The aspiration this year is to raise RM300,000, benefitting four organisations – Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), University Malaya Medical Centre, Food Aid Foundation, Rotary Club of Metro Kuala Lumpur for Orang Asli Community and Apex Club of Petaling Jaya for Caring and Sharing Homes.

CJS is the longest running corporate social responsibility programme, which was first organized in 2000 to growing success. The funds are raised by entertaining patrons to good music and good food by local talents.

CJS co-founder SS Rajaa said in the past 19 years, the collective amount collected is almost RM1,032,000 chanelled to 11 organisations and three individuals. “I feel very blessed for being able to do this for the past 20 years and I hope CJS will grow to be even more successful in the coming years,” said Rajaa at the press conference.

Various parties have come together in making CJS happen – various hotels that provide venue and F&B, lights, sound and most importantly, the musicians. This year, 21 local bands will be taking turns to beat out their numbers for 12 straight hours from 12 noon. They are Sharin Band, Sensation, Roofieology, River Blues Band, Elements, Lord & The Boys, No-Tyra, K-Oz, Network Band, Radio Knowhere, Karisma, Vatos Locos, Bala, Strollers, RyotJones, 9 Lives, Kuroneko, Gerard Singh & Friends, Small Stones, MixAsia feat The Dhol Riderz, Arumugam goes to Alabama and DJ Soya. Visitors will be thrilled in welcoming a newcomer, Act II March, a band of 10 youths aged between 18-26, making their debut at the event.

“Music gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything and charity is where the home is,” said Malaysian Association of Hotels Selangor Chapter Datin Jasmine Abdullah Heng. She also shared fondly that CJS is one of the most unique charity events the organization enjoys organising annually.

In addition to the entertainment, many fun activities are held too such as Darts, Lucky Draws, Dutch Auctions and free basic medical check-ups by PICU.

The President of Malaysian Association of Hotels Sam Cheah Swee Hee, also one of the co-founders and co-organisers of CJS had only this to say – “I do what I do because I like what I do, and I do it for compassion and empathy.”
