How does one even begin to talk about MAC’s Holiday Collection when there are so many products? The best person to ask about all the products is Ms. Haritha Shan, MAC’s Senior Artist who looked glowing and gorgeous in her 7+ months of pregnancy. Mine was only the 2nd out of 25 interviews she had on the day the Holiday Collection was launched.
What is the colour story behind the entire Holiday Collection?
Haritha : It was inspired by icebergs and skaters, in particular Johnny Weir who is the three-time US champion, two-time Olympian and World medalist who uses MAC products. MAC wanted to create products that reflect the icebergs and so the packaging reflects that.
Are the Mineralize eye shadows similar to the Semi-Precious Mineralize eye shadows?
Haritha : Yes, they are similar. The only difference is the colour range. The colours in the Holiday Collection are icy, light and cool to reflect a cold environment.
What are your favourite or must-have products?
Haritha : The eye shadow palettes as they are convenient. Why waste the opportunity to get them as they are handy. There is a range of light, medium and dark tones and a dark eye liner in every palette. If you forget to bring an eye liner, there is an eye liner in every palette.
Then there are the Lip Kits as there is a lipstick, lip gloss and lip pencil in a lovely pouch. The Viva Glam lip set is recommended. Viva Glam is the heart and soul of MAC.
The Beauty Powders give a glow to the skin but they are not shimmery or sparkly. They give a smooth sheen to the complexion but without the high shine of highlighters. Skin takes on a healthy glow , they enhance the skin texture while keeping skin looking natural.
Are the Technakohl Pencils similar to those in the regular range and are they waterproof?
Haritha : Yes, they are but the colours are very nice this time with silver, gold, green, brown, violet. The silver can replace a white eye liner in the inner rim of the eyes and make eyes look bigger.
What’s your opinion on the Paint Pots and how do you recommend we use them?
Haritha : The Paint Pots in this Collection contain glitter and frost pigments so they are different from previous Paint Pots. One should work fast and blend on one eye before starting on the other. Using a synthetic brush is better than fingers as fingers can make it look patchy.
What’s your favourite Brush Set?
Haritha : The Mineralize Brush Set. Getting 2 brush sets is like getting a complete set of brushes.
