My Beauty Diary Camellia Mask

By the time I finish my current hoard of My Beauty Diary (MBD) Masks (haven’t even opened the box of 34 yet which I picked up from Guardian weeks ago), MBD will probably come out with some new masks, adding to its already impressive range. To a beginner, the number of choices can be daunting as one would probably wonder which is the best mask to use.

With my purchase of Southern France Apricot Mask and the Vienna Black Tulip Masks, I was given the Camellia Mask as a Gift With Purchase together with the White Truffle Fantastic Whitening Mask. The Camellia and White Truffle Masks are in the luxury line which explains the “Up+” symbol on the upper right hand corner of the masks.

Similar to the White Truffle Mask, the Camellia Mask contains 30g of serum. Apparently, the Camellia Mask is formulated with Japanese hydrating ingredients, Camellia Japonica Extract and Camellia Japonica Seed Extract which also have anti-oxidant properties.

Since this is a Camellia Mask, I expected a strong floral scent but to my surprise, there wasn’t much fragrance at all. It’d be an ideal mask for people who are scent-intolerant of sheet masks. I was a little disappointed, I would have liked some floral scent but I can’t complain, it was a freebie after all.

Adjusting the mask on my face, I thought it was a bit too small but it certainly was chock-full of moisture. It has a thin texture just like the White Truffle Mask. Now that I have grown accustomed to this thinner texture of MBD Masks, it’d be hard for me to go back to masks in MBD’s regular line such as the Black Pearl Mask.

If it’s a good hydrating mask you are after, then the Camellia Mask really delivers plenty of moisture. I had it on for almost 1.5 hours, just wanted to test its hydration power. Any hydration mask that lasts more than an hour is pretty good, by my reckoning.

Yes, there is a brightening effect with this mask but then again, I do get that with the majority of MBD masks. Skincare products which followed after the mask was removed were absorbed more rapidly and skin felt hydrated for hours after usage.

I have no idea what the price of the Camellia Masks are in Malaysia as I have not seen them being sold in a box at Guardian or Watsons. However, they are most likely to be more expensive than the masks in their regular line which at normal price are RM49.90 per box.
