Going the distance in creating an exciting and meaningful journey, Auto Bavaria recently teamed up with Lions Club of KL Agape Star for a beach & reef conservation initiative.

The three-day road trip entailed a convoy consisting of 49 Lions and 15 Auto Bavaria team members in 15 units of BMW 218i Gran Coupé, flagging off from Sime Darby Motors City in Ara Damansara to make their way to Redang Island. In the spirit of giving back to those less fortunate, the first stop for the convoy was Gabungan Persatuan Persatuan Tionghua in Kuantan. Home to 30 senior citizens, Gabungan Persatuan Persatuan Tionghua is dedicated to improving the social welfare of the Kuantan community. Aiming to make a positive difference, the group spread cheer as they visited and spent time with the senior citizens.

The group then continued their journey in the BMW 218i Gran Coupé to the east coast towards the Kuala Terengganu jetty. Upon arrival at Redang Island, it was all hands-on deck as the Lions Club members and Auto Bavaria team spent the day cleaning up the beach, collecting a total of 13 bags of trash as part of its aim to protect the beach’s rich biodiversity. In addition, to help preserve the coral reef ecosystem, the group planted three artificial reefs with 48 coral nubbins on each reef at the marine park in Pulau Redang.

Vi Thim Juan, Managing Director of Auto Bavaria said, “The beach & reef conservation initiative with Lions Club of KL Agape Star is part of our ongoing commitment towards sustainability and environmental responsibility. We appreciate the importance of locally-driven efforts in preserving the natural beauty of Redang Island, and are pleased to have played our part in maintaining a clean and beautiful beach for all to enjoy.”

Victor Nga, Project Organizing Chairman of the Lions Club of KL Agape Star added, “It was encouraging to witness the commitment of our Lions Club members in giving back to the community and the environment. It was important for the members to undertake an effort close to their hearts and I am thankful for the collaborative effort with Auto Bavaria that made this possible. It was a pleasure to experience the comfort and agility of the vehicles during our journey. We look forward to more exciting collaborations in the future as we continue with our corporate social responsibility activities.”

Lions Club members were given the opportunity to experience the BMW 218i Gran Coupé, an ultramodern spacious, for-long-distance luxury car with a 1.5 litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, over the 900km journey to and from Redang Island.
