Even if you aren’t celebrating Chinese New Year, the past 4 days must have been a much longed for break for everyone. Not having a hometown to return to, I’m always staying put in the city and I love it because it’s one of the rare times in the year when it takes less than half an hour to get anywhere so why would I want to join the crowd and go to another town during this time of peace and quiet in KL?

Just for the fun of it and because I know today is an especially blue Monday for those of us who have to go back to work, let’s have a Giveaway. I am giving away a set of 4 Make Up For Ever Aqua Liners & 1 Aqua Rouge, collectively worth over RM300.

All you have to do is tell me what you’ve been doing the past 4 days. Have you been chilling out by being a couch potato, visiting relatives and friends or munching on all the goodies that are only available this festive occasion? You don’t even have to be celebrating CNY to answer this question.

  1. This new year is my first new year as aarried person. The eve and first day of CNY was spend cleaning for the new year as well as helping my MIL with the big cooking. Then is back to the hometown. Sitting in the car on a hot humid day for hours on the highway is not something many will desire. By the time i reach Ipoh, nothing will be welcome with icy ice balls from Bits & Balls. More lou sang and rich food for the next few days, the pkeasure is more to meeting your cousins and relatives. Not so pleasurable will be the momdnt is the ‘ang pow’ time and young kids calling you aunty.

One of most unforgettable things of new year is certainly the FOOD, the gambling games of mahjong and card games as well as the laughter and pleasure of the family ties that we had sunce young. Getting to know more of my new family us also something new for me.

  2. The 4 days of CNY was over in just a blink of an eye. First two days spent visiting grandparents and relatives. My “BaiNian” schedule wasn’t as packed as it used to be when I was still a small kid, which my family had to travel all over Penang (both the island and mainland) within the first 2 days to visit all relatives. It was really tiring and hot but fun. Now, some elders have gone back to God and the younger generations seem to be getting more and more distant from each other as we age. It’s sad but it’s the hard truth of life 🙁

The 3rd and 4th day, I spent it yum cha-ing with my friends. We even went for bowling out of random because all the cinemas and karaoke rooms were jam-packed. We were sort of surprised with the little amount of people at the bowling centre. On our way there, we were just thinking of trying our luck, hopefully we can manage to get one bowling lane. I guess bowling is kinda out-dated now as compared to my schooling time. I seriously don’t know why but bowling is a good sport and a good activity for friends gatherings.

All in all, my CNY holiday was rather slow-paced and most of the time I was a couch potato. Been working too hard to complete writing my masters thesis before CNY, so I just want to recuperate during the holiday. Oh ya…and eat. Gosh…I feel fat now *sobs*

  3. Hi Juniper,

Thanks for this awesome giveaway. I think I would like one emotional person if I tell you how I have been passing my CNY but well here it goes. One the first day of my reunion dinner, I found my father had “let” me put in my brand new clothes into a pail stained with some sort of automotive oil that I can’t remove at all. During the dinner I was quite, since I was taught that if I have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything. On the first day of new year, it was okay until my laptop starts to just shut down and wouldn’t start at all. Yeah, great, I have to repair it. On the second day, I went to my grandparents house and it was so hot that I came back with fever and puking non stop. Everyone ask me the same questions like I have the answers to it. Third day, was just at home listening to my parents mumbling away about me and my siblings on the laptop all the time. Don’t ask me about my angpow as my mum took all away except one packet which contains RM2. So, don’t ask me how much I get for angpow because I don’t like compare and there is nothing to compare. On the forth day, my father threw a tantrum just like a 3years old child screaming until the whole rows of houses can hear it. As if I am torturing him to death or something. We managed to get him to the hospital and there he threw tantrum again. Yes, there goes my four days of ‘exciting’ Chinese Year.

  4. 4 days holiday for Chinese New year have been fulfilled with enjoyable and sweetest moment with my family. Its been so long since we can be all together with siblings and parent. Getting time to hangout together and exploring new things is really fun. Its just yesterday, but i already missed those time.

  5. Thanks for the giveaway.. The past 4 day was nothing much interesting.. Day 1 as usual I stayed home and spend a day with family. Day 2 is just spent a day eating and watching TV. Day 3 was as usual….nothing much either.. Pretty boring huh…day 4… Hmmm was supposed to go out lunch and movie with both of my bff but then the weather is sohot, we thot we might melt going out, so we postponed to late afternoon and then we all forgot and nap till 5pm.. So we decided to postponed it again… Huh….and then we went out at night around 8plus for Starbucks and ended up not watching movie but there and then decided to up to genting for another Starbucks…lolx… And we stay up there till 6am and came down and head home to sleep… So there is was my boring adventure..

  6. For the past few days, me and my family decided to do something different for this year Chinese New Year by going for a vacation! We went to bangkok and had a great time in the city as the culture and food is very different. We went to their weekend market which had thousands of stalls with many treasures! The food was fantastic as the variety of street foods were so many we did not know where to start! Their shopping malls were equally fascinating as the tenants they had were very different than ours so we had a great time visiting malls, even if it was just window shopping! I am very interested in makeup products not available in Malaysia, to my dismay, all the products that I wanted to buy were out of stock….too bad! All in all it was enjoyable cny!

  7. Happy Chinese New Year Juniper!

My past 4 days are very typical but I enjoyed it very much! I visited to relatives’ houses and we updated our life with each other, it might sound boring to many people but I truly cherish all the quality time with my relatives and family. In addition, I had so many good food that I can’t even button my trousers haha! I spent most of my time on playing with my little cousins. We played all kind of childish and stupid games together and I really enjoyed myself!

  8. The past 4 days of my chinese new year was quite a bustle one! Despite of bustling around visiting grandparents and relatives, what make this new years more meaningful as this year mark the 10 years after graduated from secondary school.
Thanks to this festive season, everyone try their very best to make the old schoolmats gathering a success! I bet Chinese New Year is the greatest time for reunion, spending quality time with families and friend!
Apart from the chitchatting session, what I like the most on festive season is the FOOD which we do not have on normal days, especially the “lou sang”, Kuih kapit, and other mouth-watering traditional chinese dishes!

  9. For the past 4 days,I spent my precious time catching up with tv shows and movies I missed due to my hectic schedule.I really wanted to go back to Ipoh but all the bus tickets were sold out.The travel times that were actually available clashed with my class times. So,I got stuck here in my room, all alone during the holidays wishing I was at home :/ Anyway,I hope your new year’s celebration was good Junipers ! 🙂 Lastly, thank you for the giveaway! Stay generous! 😀

  10. Happy Chinese New Year!
Eat, Play and Sleep! This summarizes my chinese new year! I really love to eat cny cookies, steamboat, and BBQ!! Eating and spending time with my relatives once a year is really enjoyable! Teasing and playing with young cousins is really funny and made me felt younger! Dishes by my uncles with excellent cooking skill is really unforgettable! Time spent in my kampung is really full of joy and fun!
Thanks for the generous giveaway again! 🙂

  11. Well that’s such an awesome giveaway as always!!
The long weekend over Chinese New year was amazing for us, we went to the Lego land and my son had the most amazing time. We drove from Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru on Thursday and spent the day in the hotel where we enjoyed the lavish Chinese new year spread at the Wan Li restaurant at Renaissance Johor Bahru, where we also did the traditional Lau Sang with the family and my Son was quite amused with the process and happy to mix the ingredients and the next morning went to Lego Land, My son and I enjoyed the rides and the amazing creations from Lego on display, the next day we went for Angry Bird Park and on the way back to Kuala Lumpur spent a night in Melaka and relished the local food offerings there. Overall the long weekend was spend with the family that’s what holidays are all about
