J’adore L’oreal Color Infallible

Every now and then I come across drugstore eye shadows that I think are on par or even better quality than counter brands but those occasions are getting more rare. It’s been some time since I chanced upon drugstore eye shadows which I loved at first sight and recently, I saw the L’oreal Color Infallible range at Watsons, Hong Kong. They are also available at Sasa outlets (although not the 3 newer shades) but I wasn’t that into the older colors such as Pebble Grey, Eternal Chocolate, Permanent Khaki. Boring and not so exciting.

However, I then locked eyes on 3 new shades, 2 of them were stunning when swatched – Metallic Lilac and Cosmic Black. Now these were something to be considered as were much more arresting than the older shades. These loose pressed shadows come in square plastic pand with a round cap and the shadows are pressed down with a black plastic cover inside.

These 2 shades appeared to have more pigments than the older shades and they are have a metallic shimmer texture, very smooth with fantastic color pay-off. I have no problems using my fingers to apply them although they do pick up easily with the right eye shadow brush.

The colors don’t fade nor crease on my eyelids and they are smudge-proof too. I thought Cosmic Black would migrate on to my lower eye area but nope, it stayed put unlike MAC’s Gilt By Association which is a dupe for Cosmic Black, albeit with more gold flecks.

Metallic Lilac is a soft lilac with flecks of pink, simply stunning! It is easier to apply than a similar shade of pigments that I have. Of course, this can be paired with a darker shade of purple but I like using this one on its own.

As for Cosmic Black, it certainly reminded me of my MAC Gilt By Association as both have a black base with gold flecks but the difference is that Gilt By Association is darker and more intense. The beauty of Color Infallible is that they have such good color pay-off that an eye shadow primer underneath is unncessary.

They are 3.5g and retail at HKD89 each. I doubt they will be available in Malaysia but it’d be great if they will be one day as they are a worthwhile buy and seriously the best drugstore eye shadows I’ve ever purchased in every respect.
