There’s no doubt that petai is very popular in Malaysia and other countries in Asia. You only have to see the number of petai stalls by roadsides to know they sell. I have always thought it is an acquired taste. Maybe if it was part of your regular diet growing up (not mine) then you will grow accustomed to the taste. Frozen Café offered me a tub of their latest petai flavour and I was curious.
It is a light green hue and extremely concentrated. When I opened the cover, there was no overpowering petai smell but at first bite, I could definitely taste the petai. It isn’t my favourite flavour but it is very nicely done as it certainly encapsulates the petai flavour.
