I must be one of the few people living in KL who didn’t know about the tossing of the longest “yee sang” (999m) at Jalan Bukit Bintang this morning. Coincidentally, I had an appointment at Pavilion and only realised something BIG was happening when I encountered road diversions and couldn’t cross over from Fahrenheit 88 to Pavilion save for using the dingy and dark underpass.

There were already so many people at 10am and there were lion dancing troupes lined up on the pavement. A pity then that I couldn’t join in the festivities because by the time by appointment was over, so were the festivities!

However, I did manage to take a few photos of the participants. The stilt walkers are so colourfully garbed. It almost felt like a Chinese Mardi Gras!

I did notice though that when everything was over, there was still plenty of “yee sang” left over. I do hope that the excess doesn’t go to waste as there are so many underprivileged out there who want nothing more than to fill their stomachs.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my Hokkien readers celebrating Thni Kong Seh a very Happy New Year.
