MAC Fall Colour Collection

How many people had actually heard of avant-garde photographer, Cindy Sherman before she posed for MAC’s Fall Colour Collection? Most cosmetic brands would choose a famous starlet or model to front their latest beauty launch but MAC is one brand that more often than not, goes against the grain.

I know I’m a bit late with this news since MAC’s Fall Colour Collection has been instore for a week already. It’s a 3 part collection much like the MAC Me Over Collection. The collection has just about everything except for blushers, there is only 1 bronzing powder (RM90) in this collection.

Wild Colour

At MAC MidValley, one of the mono eye shadows, Shock-A-Holic had already sold out and once the product sells out, the sample is withdrawn so I couldn’t swatch Shock-A-Holic. The 4 colours below are (from l-r) Passionate (matte), Blue Candy (satin), Royale (matte) and Three Ring Yellow (veluxe pearl). Mono eye shadows are RM60 each.

4 pigments (from l-r) are Magenta Madness, Neo-Orange, Violet and please disregard the last swatch (Tan) as it is in the 3rd part, Midnight Blue (RM82). Magenta Madness and Neo-Orange are very vibrant colours, not exactly suitable for wearing to work but great for photo shoots. Violet is in the permanent range.

I guess the highlight in Wild Colour are the Chromagraphic Pencils (RM65). The colours are amazing but again, these aren’t colours I’d wear to work. These are fantastic colours for parties and occasions where you want to stand out from the crowd. Colours (from l-r) are Process Magenta, Basic Red, High Def Cyan & Rich Purple.

The 4 lipsticks (RM68) in Wild Colour are (from l-r) Neon Orange, Show Orchid, Fusion Pink & Ruby Woo.

Angel Flame

There are 2 Beauty Powders (RM115), Porcelain Pink and Lightscapade MSF which are used as highlighters.

Angel Flame eye shadow quad (RM140).

I have no swatches of either quad as the lighter colours didn’t swatch that well with fingers.

Lipglasses are RM68 each.

Midnight Blue

Love the pigments in Midnight Blue, went home with one of them. From l-r, Blue Storm, Emerald Dusk, Starless Night & Tan.

I could only swatch 3 of the 4 lipsticks as Plum Bright has been sold out and so from l-r, they are Fleshpot, X-S & Violetta.

Overall, it is a very colourful collection and if you love extrovert colours, then this collection might be right up your alley. In my opinion, the eye shadow quads were disappointing as they seem quite powdery and colour pay-off is average. The collection will probably be overshadowed by the upcoming Glitter and Ice Collection which will be available on 27th October.

Update 24th October, 2011

I’ve swatched the Shock-A-Holic mono eye shadow and Golden Olive pigment at MAC, 1Utama.

Note : The Lip Erase Lip Balm in Dim appears to be a bestselling item as it is already sold out at MAC, MidValley. It’s priced at RM83.
