MAC Styledriven Collection : Back To 50s Glamour

There’s something so Dita Von Teese about the above image – her features are enhanced with wing eyeliner and red lips. The blue dress she is wearing and her hairstyle hark back to the 1950s.

In the Styledriven Collection, there are Pro Longwear products for face, eyes and lips. There are 16 Pro Longwear eye shadows in this collection, the texture is creamy not unlike the eye shadows in their Peacocky Collection not long ago. Now that the MAC Me Over Collection! is also available. it’s easy to gloss over Styledriven but the Pro Longwear eye shadows are worth a look simply because their texture is new and improved.

There’s a good mix of bright and dark colours to choose from with some eye shadows being more metallic than others but colour pay-off is generally better than eye shadows in the permanent collection.

The 2 eye shadows I’ve received for review are Legendary Black (semi-matte to satin) and Fresh Flare (metallic frost with more shimmer than Legendary Black). The 2 shades seem to complement each other quite well.

I like the texture of Fresh Flare (bright kelly green perfect for St. Patrick’s Day!) as it’s really creamy and easy to apply whether with fingers or brush. It’s much nicer on the lids than in the pan. Sometimes eye shadows are like that, you don’t find yourself liking them unless they are on your lids. Fresh Flare didn’t even appeal much to me when I swatched it but on my lids, it was a different story.

As for Legendary Black, this is a versatile colour as it can be teamed up with any brown toned eye shadows. Just add a little Legendary Black to the outer corners of eyes and smudge it towards whatever eye shadow you choose to wear on the inner corners of eyes.

They have, as the name suggests, very good staying power as they stay true to their colour without fading/budging/creasing all day even without the use of an eye shadow primer. All the products in this collection have been specially formulated for long hours of wear.

All the Pro Longwear eye shadows are 3.4g (takes forever to finish for me anyway) and priced at RM80.

Note : Legendary Black & Fresh Flare eye shadows were provided by PR for review.
