Maggie & Annie

There was a warm response to the “meet & greet” session with Maggie & Annie, daughters of Jane and nieces to Jean Ford, co-creators of Benefit Cosmetics at Parkson Pavilion last Thursday. It was a golden opportunity for Benefit’s customers to ask them questions or provide feedback.

Most (if not all) of us were dwarfed by the towering Maggie & Annie, they looked more like models for Benefit when they came towards the Benefit counter. They were friendly, approachable and informative as they provided information on the products used during the 2 make-up demos, day look by Maggie and night look by Annie.

Some of the products used during Maggie’s day look makeup demo were:-

(1) “that gal” brightening face primer which gives a boost of radiance to complexion and a more even skin tone, can be used with foundation or mixed with moisturiser for a natural sheen;

(2) POREfessional PRO balm for minimizing the appearance of pores;

(3) “big beautiful eyes” eye contour kit which contains bo-ing industrial-strength concealer, an alabaster pink base shadow, a cocoa shimmer shadow and a rich chocolate brown liner shadow, a contour/liner dual-ended brush and a concealer brush;

(4) BADgal waterproof mascara which has a small applicator brush to reach the lash roots;

(5) some kind-a gorgeous, the foundation faker which comes in 3 shades, customises skin tone with no drying or settling in fine lines;

(6) benetint for lips and cheeks.

For the night look by Annie, more or less the same products (as set out above) were used but this time, Annie used the “smokin’ eyes” sexy eye & brow makeover kit instead of the “big beautiful eyes” eye kit. The “smokin’ eyes” kit contains the eye bright instant eye brightener, a pink highlight shadow, a pewter base shadow, a deep charcoal shadow, smokin’ liner, brow zings wax, fluff shadow/hard angle brush & a mini tweezer.

The night look

Annie used the pink highlighter in the “smokin’ eyes” kit on the inner corners of the eyes to give a wide-eyed look. Posietint was blended with High Beam on the back of her hands and then applied on the model’s cheekbones for a luminous, lifted look.

Coralista was appliedon the apples of the model’s cheeks upwards to the temples and hairline for a chiselled look. POREfessional can be used on top of makeup to control shine on the T-zone and above the brow area.

The night look wasn’t very dramatic, severe or intense and definitely could have passed off as the day look. According to Maggie and Annie, the products are problem solving and mostly dual action and they said that Benefit cosmetics are simple, easy to use and fun. We couldn’t agree more and look forward to the introduction of their new skincare in mid-May.

It was a pleasure to have met both of them and hopefully, there will be more of such “meet & greet” sessions in future, not just with Benefit but with overseas representatives of other beauty brands as well.
