Having lived in our capital city in what feels like forever and then some, I have never had the urge or need to stay in a city hotel. Then came the offer to spend a night at one of the city’s best, Renaissance KL and of course who would say no? After all, this is one hotel I would love to visit more often, it’s right smack in the middle of KL, a stone’s throw away from KLCC and Pavilion and it has some of the best restaurants in KL.
I arrived at 3pm (was supposed to check in at 2pm but blame it on the traffic, as usual I experienced gridlock) and after checking in, got a guided tour of the hotel’s facilities beginning with the 24th Floor which is the Lifestyle Centre. This Lifestyle Centre is accessible to guests staying on the Lifestyle Floor which is the 22nd. There’s free flow of drinks like hot beverages during the day and between 5.30 to 7.30pm everyday, guests can partake of light snacks which by the way can be quite filling! They also serve complimentary wine during those 2 hours.
The 24th Floor connects to the 23rd Floor by way of a staircase and there’s plenty of comfortable seating on both floors which have a picturesque view of the city. I could have spent more time just looking out the wide windows had I not been pressed for time to look at the other facilities. There is a meeting room on the 23rd Floor and Lifestyle guests have the use of printers and computers with Internet access, there’s no need to even ask for the password. It’s quiet in the afternoon but the place comes to life in the evenings when guests get together on the 24th Floor for drinks and snacks.
See what I mean? There’s quite a lot to eat between 5.30 to 7.30pm so much so all you need is a light dinner or maybe a late dinner. I could so get used to this kind of life. Drinks are served by the staff and I was surprised to be offered wine, that makes it really worthwhile to be a Lifestyle guest.
My room on the 22nd Floor of the East Wing is spacious with a work table larger than in many hotel rooms I have stayed in, definitely caters to the needs of the business traveller. There’s a jar of coconut candies on the work table, small touches like this are so thoughtful. A fruit platter and can of cookies was waiting for me. This is the life!
The bath room does seem a bit cramped with the shower area very near the sink but bear in mind this hotel was constructed some 2 decades ago so perhaps it’s time for a refurbishment. Toiletries are by Tokyo Milk and there is everything I need here.
I had an uninterrupted and comfortable night’s sleep in the bed with plush bedding, lots of pillows and duvet which kept me snug all night. The switches for the lights are conveniently placed next to the bed so there’s no need to get up and fiddle with the switches before going to sleep. There’re lots of snacks available at the mini bar should one feel peckish during the night.
Oh yes, one night at Renaissance and it really feels like the world’s my oyster!
A fruit platter in the room will definitely make me smile, this is so thoughtful!
So relaxing!
Amazing and detailed review! YEs, I sure agree with you that one night at Renaissance Hotel would make me feel like i am on Cloud nine too!
