As another festive occasion approaches, it’s time for hotel restaurants to feature Ramadan buffets and you can be guaranteed that top quality hotels like Renaissance will pull out all the stops to give diners a wide and delicious range just perfect for tantalizing taste buds.

Renaissance Hotel’s TEMPTations has such an amazing array of food that I didn’t know where to start. Everything smelled so tempting and the presentation was beautiful from the fresh seafood to the cooked food and mouth-watering desserts.

drinks

The drinks station will quench your thirst quickly especially after a long day of fasting. Choose from syrup, cool Milo, iced tea to air bandung. There’s also orange cordial.

This is one of my favourites from this buffet – poach seafood. There are sizeable prawns, salmon and mackerel. Just choose whatever you want and your catch will be ready in a few minutes. I was a bit greedy with this one as I love salmon and prawns. The salmon tasted so fresh and I didn’t need any sauces to go with it.

bakar

The “ikan bakar” station offers a variety of seafood ranging from stingray, red snapper, sea bass, mackerel to tilapia.

Condiments that accompany the salad, there’s budu, cincalok, sambal belacan and tempoyak.

What buffet would be complete without satay? I had quite a few sticks of juicy chicken satay.

crackers

So many types of crackers to choose from.

lamb

Lamb Rogan Josh goes very well with rice, not too spicy and the lamb is tender.

At the noodle station, choose your noodles for blanching and the soup you want with the noodles. There’s Johor, Kelantan, Penang and Nyonya laksa. I tried Kelantan noodles, the soup is whitish and they use crushed mackerel and white pepper powder for the stock. It tastes slightly sweet and creamy, an acquired taste.

asp

Nice, thick and creamy asparagus soup. Dip a bun in there for even more satisfaction.

I haven’t had sup ekor in such a long time, this one has chunks of tail with some meat, potato and carrot.

cucur

Chef Rohaizad Specialty #1 – cucur udang/prawn fritters.

beef

Chef Rohaizad Specialty #2 – beef rendang.

fish

Chef Rohaizad Specialty #3 – ikan panggang.

It is really important for the statement of the prize for food so that we can know how much to bring for the buffet! Really worth the money!
