There are normal cotton pads and then there are special cotton pads with dual purpose like these – Shu Uemura Silk Supreme Crystallizer. These cotton pads really pamper skin and while you may be initially confused as to which side to use first, you will know very rapidly which is the silky (Step 1) and which is the cotton side (Step 2).

As you can see, the cotton pads are not that big but adequate. The silky side is smoother and is used for exfoliating and refining skin texture (polish skin) while the cotton side is used for patting in toner and lotion for moisturizing and refreshing the skin with cooling and tightening effect (pat skin).
