Amani Salon & Wellness Centre is a bit off the beaten track as far as spa/salons are located at The Scott Garden but it’s really worth a visit or two and if you love spas that are quiet as spas should be, then you will love Amani. I’ve been to spas where I can hear the consultants talking to customers. I relish spas that give me complete privacy and where I don’t hear even a pin drop. I have found just such a spa nirvana in Amani.
Back again at Amani for their Signature Ritual, this is an unhurried treatment that you have to set aside 3.5 to 4 hours for. This time I had a different therapist from my last visit. I love the cocoon of peace offered by Amani. I never felt for a moment during the 4 hours I was there that any part of the process was hurried.
The Signature Ritual begins with a body scrub with sea salt, warm oil (juniper is one of the ingredients of the sea salt ;)) and lotion combined. After it’d been wiped off, a mud wrap (and juniper!) was applied all over my body. Then I was wrapped in an electric blanket for 25 minutes to activate my body metabolism. It wasn’t too unbearable and in fact, I didn’t break out in too much of a sweat.
After 25 minutes was up, I hopped into the shower cubicle directly opposite my room and to my surprise found Bliss Lemon & Sage Soapy Suds Body Wash. High quality at Amani where even the shower gel is not of the drugstore or generic kind.
The next part of the ritual was the one I had been looking forward to. A relaxing 20 minute soak in the jacuzzi in my treatment room was what I needed. The tub was filled with rose petals and bath milk which made my skin feel so soft and also thanks to the exfoliation from the body scrub earlier. The jacuzzi is big enough for 2 should you wish to soak together with your friend/husband/partner but I would rather have the tub all to myself. Talk about indulgence!
Next it was time for the 1 hour body massage. As my last massage wasn’t that long ago, my muscles didn’t feel too tight but it still felt too good for words to have the therapist’s warm hands easing away the tension in my joints. I really appreciate the therapist’s warm hands as there aren’t many therapist I’ve encountered who had hands as warm as hers. This made a difference between a good and an excellent massage.
I was transferred to another room after the body massage for my facial with Bioessentials products. This is a brand which balances eastern and western philosophies built on a foundation of health and wellbeing. I believe this brand is also used by many quality spas in Malaysia. It was awarded Best Spa Product/Body Care at the Malaysia Spa & Wellness Awards 2011. The products were used during my body treatments during the 1st part of the Signature Ritual.
The facial takes about an hour and is a deep cleansing facial compared to the Sundhari facial which is a treatment facial. The Bioessentials skincare used during my facial did not have any scent. The facial consists of double cleansing, scrub with a cream exfoliator, facial massage with essential oil and a clay mask. There is no extraction for this facial.
What I liked most about the Signature Ritual is the variety of treatments – from body scrub, wrap, jacuzzi soak, body massage to the facial. Each part of the ritual didn’t take too long. The therapist took her time with each part of the ritual and I could feel that she was giving me 110% attention. Amani is a spa with a quiet ambience yet it speaks volumes about the care given to every customer who walks through their doors. I felt so relaxed that I almost fell asleep during the facial. The therapists at Amani are the best as they have decades of experience between them and everything about Amani puts a smile on my face :-)!
