Sizing Up Samples : Clé De Peau Beaute

Other than the innumerable skincare samples I have lying around, I have to get through the fair number of make-up samples from various brands. Slowly but surely I hope to get through at least half of them this year because it’s about time they were used and sized up.

One of the many primer and foundation samples in my ever burgeoning stash are Clé De Peau Beaute Smoothing Base For Lines and Powder Foundation. The former is a pre-makeup product which one could call a primer. They also have Smoothing Base For Pores, presumably more suited for oily skins.

The purpose of Smoothing Base For Lines is to minimize the appearance of fine lines and to enhance a beautiful foundation finish while protecting skin from harmful external aggressors such as UV rays. It contains SPF26 so with this product, you can probably skip the sunscreen unless you need or want a higher SPF.

As a smoothing base, it lives up to its name as the creamy texture instantly transforms skin into a smooth canvas for foundation. I might even be able to get by without foundation if I just want light coverage for the day. It does smoothen out fine lines without the silicone feel of some other primers on the market.

I just love powder foundation samples that come with a sponge – great for travelling and these little samples are only available from a few select brands such as Chanel, Estee Lauder and Kanebo. My powder foundation sample is in O10 which is the 3rd lightest shade out of 8 shades.

The powder foundation is has a semi-matte finish and medium coverage. It is neither heavy nor cakey which is to be expected of a brand like this. The powder is so finely milled that I can hardly feel a layer of powder on my skin. I am not sure how it will fare on oily skin but didn’t wear off all day for me.

The Smoothing Base retails at RM190 for 34ml but I don’t have the price for the Powder Foundation.
