Amani Salon & Wellness Centre Treatment Room

Although I was seriously tempted by Amani Salon & Wellness Centre’s Signature Ritual by Amani which includes a body scrub with warm oil and salt, full body wrap, soak in the jacuzzi, aromatherapy massage followed by a facial, I was equally drawn towards the Sundãri Abhyanga Massage & Sundãri Facial. I am very curious about holistic treatments and while there are many spas (if not all) offering treatments such as the Signature Ritual, there aren’t that many offering the complete Sundãri experience so I was glad to take up the Sundãri Abhyanga Massage &  Sundãri Facial at Amani. I’ve read about the benefits of Abhyanga massage and it is something I have wanted to try for the longest time.

The signature feature of the Sundãri Abhyanga Massage is the dripping of warm oil on limbs as this promotes blood circulation, relieves stress and tension and promotes general well-being to bring about a balance of mind and body. If you take the Sundãri Abhyanga Massage, be prepared to have warm oil drizzled on you. I liked that ritual very much as it was soothing and therapeutic to not only my body but my mind too. I felt that this is a much more luxurious massage than the average aromatherapy massage.

During my Sundãri Abhyanga Massage in one of Amani’s spacious and well-appointed treatment rooms (the scent of essential oils contributed positively to the whole experience), Gotu Kola oil was liberally dripped on to my legs, back, hands. No wonder the Sundãri Abhyanga Massage is pricier than the aromatherapy massage. It felt like a whole lot more oil was being used during this massage.

My therapist who is Malaysian, is one of the trainers at Amani and she has 10 years’ experience in the spa industry. Her experience showed in the way she expertly eased away the tension in my muscles and joints. She knew which part of my body needed more attention. Thanks to hours spent hunched over the laptop, it is definitely the back, shoulder and neck. It was such a far cry from the last massage I had which was last year, that one left me feeling a bit mentally scarred and dreading body massages as the therapist pressed too hard and I had trouble getting up from the chair and bed as well as walking for a few days after the massage. The Amani Sundari Abhyanga Massage is an experience I would love to repeat as the best part of it is the pouring of the warm oil on my joints.

Sundãri Cleansers

After the Sundãri Abhyanga Massage which lasts between 1½ – 2 hours, it was on to the Sundãri Facial which also takes around that time. The scent of the  Sundãri skincare were absolutely gorgeous as befits a prestige brand like  Sundãri. The scents are very natural and plant-based. There was nothing about each and every skincare used on me that I didn’t like. In fact, I wish I could take all of them home. Yes, that was really what I was thinking as the therapist was applying this or that on my face.

First, Comfrey Cleanser was used followed by the Gentle Gel Cleanser. Both cleansers are suitable for dry skins. After each step, my therapist used a warm towel to cleanse the products from my face and sprayed my face with Neem and Aloe Vera Tonic Water. With the steamer on over my face, the therapist applied the Bamboo and Date Seed Foaming Exfoliator (the most superb scent!) and left it on for a few minutes before massaging it. Then she proceeded with the extraction which didn’t take long and was expertly administered without pain or discomfort. You can always tell how good a therapist is from the way they extract and I could tell mine has skill honed by years of experience.

My favourite part of the facial was the facial massage with Gotu Kola and Yucca Facial Serum combined with Jasmine and Ylang Ylang Essential Oil for Normal/Combination skin. The facial massage was about 20 minutes long and the therapist kept using firming strokes on every part of my face and neck. It was certainly one of the better facial massage experiences for me. If excellent facial massage is what makes or breaks a facial for you, then I highly recommend the Sundãri Facial. This is a facial massage so good that I didn’t want it to end.

Sundãri Masks

Since my skin concern is firming, the therapist applied Gotu Kola and Indian Asparagus Mask infused with skin tightening botanicals and technologically advanced peptides to stimulate fibroblast cells, while nourishing the skin. Another Sundãri skincare product with a scent so indescribably intoxicating that I felt thoroughly relaxed while waiting for the mask to sink in.

The final step of the facial was the application of the Neem and Avocado Balancing Moisturizer with a combination of superior natural botanicals and moisture-regulation technology that provides targeted moisture for drier areas and sebum absorption for oilier areas.

After the Sundãri Experience, my body felt lighter and all the tensions ebbed away while my complexion looked more glowing thanks to the therapist’s ministrations. There’s nothing like a good massage for body and face to get the blood circulation going. The Sundãri Experience is one I will never forget.

At Amani, it’ service with a smile as soon as you stept through their doors right up to the moment you leave the premises. This is a spa which focuses and is committed to providing the best possible service in the spa industry and I am lucky to have found Amani. While there are many spas/facial salons in the Jalan Klang Lama area. Amani Salon & Wellness Centre would easily rank among one of the best.

  1. Am wondering, after the warm oil massage or another 2 hours later after the facial, were you allowed to have a shower before you leave ? I understand that we are not allowed to shower right away after a massage but I’m curious did all the oil absorbed in or are we supposed to go home with oily skin. I’ve had normal aromatherapy massage before. Even after most oil are wiped away with a towel after the session, I still leave oily footprints everywhere and I don’t like that.
