Samsung Galaxy S23+

Released just a few weeks ago (this month), the Samsung Galaxy S23+ is one of the three in Samsung’s latest S23 series, the other two being the S23 and S23 Ultra. Weighing 196g and with a 7.6mm thickness, it’s easy to hold and when I switched on the phone, the 1st thing I noticed was how smooth the screen is. Not that it’s advisable to place anything on top of this phone but if you accidentally place another phone on top, it’ll just slide right off, that is just how smooth the screen is whereas my two Samsung phone which are priced below RM2k can be stacked on top of each other without sliding off. Not important to know but just something I found out.

The screen is 6.6″ wide so viewing videos or reading doesn’t strain my poor eyes. Adaptive 120Hz smooths the scroll, while Eye Comfort Shield keeps your eyes from getting tired, even as you view in the dark. One of the best features of this phone for me is the crisp sound, the volume doesn’t have to be on max and it already sounds loud. So I have been watching a lot of videos on this phone as it sounds so much better.

50 MP, f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, Dual Pixel PDAF, OIS 10 MP, f/2.4, 70mm (telephoto), 1/3.94″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, 3x optical zoom 12 MP, f/2.2, 13mm, 120˚ (ultrawide), 1/2.55″ 1.4µm, Super Steady video

Food photos are fun
Amazing triple camera

Equipped with a 12MP Ultra Wide Camera, 50MP Wide-angle Camera, 10MP3x Optical Zoom Telephoto Camera AND a 12MP Selfie Camera, it’s quite impossible to take a bad photo with this phone. The 12MP Selfie Camera is an improvement from the 10MP Selfie Camera in the S22 and S22+. I took a lot of food photos at a recent hotel buffet and was amazed at the results. There is a marked difference between the photos taken with the S23+ and my below RM2k phones. You do get what you pay for. I am sure that with a bit more practice on this phone, I can take close to professional shots of anything. As it is, I think the photos are really sharp and it makes me wish I had this phone permanently.

Really impressive is the long-lasting and fast charging battery. I think it is even more long-lasting and faster charging than the S22+. When I watch videos, the battery level was maintained even after minutes. This is the phone to bring along if you won’t have access to charging.

The available colours instore are Green, Phantom Black, Lavender and Cream while an additional 2 colours, Graphite and Lime are available online.
