What A Cool Product From Laneige!

Although BB Cream had its origins in Germany, it wouldn’t have been world famous if not for the Koreans. You have to hand it to the Koreans, they are certainly innovative when it comes to coming out with new and interesting forms of BB Creams.

Now Laneige introduces the latest form, the Snow BB Soothing Cushion, the BB Cream with the “boing-boing” factor. The introduction of the Soothing Cushion completes Laneige’s line of BB products, each with its own unique features and textures.

The first Laneige BB product was the BB Cream (RM115) introduced to Malaysia in 2009. The BB Cream comes in Shimmer Brightening BB and Natural BB, it is particularly suitable for dry skins and for occasions such as lazy weekends, holiday getaways, beach holidays and outdoor activities.

BB Essence Balm (RM125) was the 2nd Laneige BB product, it promotes matte skin so is especially suited for oily skins. According to Laneige, it is suitable for occasions such as important meetings with VIP clients, delivering presentations, formal meetings with CEO/upper management and interviews.

The 3rd and final BB product (for now anyway) is the most interesting, in my opinion. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. It’s a revolutionary product as it looks like a cushion/sponge and when I first saw it, I had a “What the…..!” moment. The colour looked dark and I was wondering how it could be suitable for fair skin tones.

This latest BB product comes with a special cushion containing the BB liquid. The cushion is designed using the air pump technology. The air pump in the cushion contains air bubbles that function to disperse a thin layer of BB liquid on to the skin with just a light pat.

The puff is designed to absorb less moisture than any ordinary puff so that the face stays refreshed. Upon application, it gives the skin a refreshing, cooling and soothing sensation. The puff sits on top of a plastic cover over the BB Soothing Cushion.

There are 5 special features of this product:-

1. Contains White Plus Renew Complex™ for brighter clearer skin.
2. Formulated with SPF50+ PA+++ that blocks a broad specturm of UV rays.
3. Reduces skin temperature by 3° and refreshes skin after a hot day. A lower skin temperature is ideal for touch-ups and reapplication of make-up. Its unique feature enables it to retain moisture up to 30% more than an average BB.
4. Has a sweat-proof formula and network of high-molecular liquid that forms an elastic barrier to block perspiration and sebum on the surface of the skin. This helps to keep make-up in place.
5. The spherical powder particles in the liquid makes oil absorption and light diffusion more effective thereby preventing excess shine creating natural and clean skin tone.

Laneige recommends using the Snow BB Soothing Cushion when one wants a sophisticated look, i.e. dates with boyfriend, social events, parties and balls. I’m not one to follow such recommendations. I just use whatever products I feel like on any given day.

This is one puff I am happy to use again and again. I love the blue side of the puff, such a nice arresting colour. The puff just needs to absorb a bit of the liquid. A little does cover quite a bit of skin. It’s definitely very refreshing and cooling once the puff touches my skin.

Coverage can be light to medium depending on how much liquid you apply. It gives a subtle glow and luminosity that makes my skin look a lot less dull and tired. I might even say my skin looks dewy soft and moisturised.

Although I have stated before that I am not a fan of BB Creams, I am rather in love with this product. When the humidity is too intolerable, this is the product to reach for as skin feels soothed and cooled when the liquid is applied with the puff.

Laneige’s tip on application:-

Apply on to puff and smooth along the texture of skin. Then pat to increase adherence. Apply another layer to improve coverage.

Laneige’s tip on how to take care of the puff:-

Gently massage in lukewarm water with neutral detergent or puff cleanser to wash. Rinse thoroughly until the detergent is washed away, squeeze out moisture and dry completely in cool, dry place.

You will know when there is no more liquid in the Snow BB Soothing Cushion when you press the cushion with fingers and no more content comes out.
