The second edition of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery Conference and Exhibition (AMSC 2023) returned to the beautiful capital city of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on 14-15 July, 2023. The prestige and distinction of the event was elevated by the attendances of leading doctors and global experts in the fields of aesthetic medicine, surgery and dermatology. The international VIP attendance list bears testament to the reputation and stature of AMSC 2023. Organised by Deltus Sdn Bhd and the Malaysian Society of Aesthetic Medicine (MSAM), the gathering of top global medical aesthetics doctors and specialists takes advantage of the increasing significance of aesthetic medicine and the cosmetic surgery industry in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.
“The AMSC 2023 conference is a one-stop platform for the globally evolving industry of aesthetic medicine. By bringing together world-renowned doctors, general practitioners, aesthetic physicians, surgeons, dermatologists, pharmacists, gynaecologists, dentists, experts and thought-leaders as well as advanced technology on a single platform, the aesthetic medicine and surgery sector will thrive with the seamless exchange of the latest research, knowledge, emerging trends, ideas, best-practices, techniques, and technologies. It will also facilitate the growth of the aesthetic medicine and surgery industry in Malaysia and ASEAN,” said Dr Masilamoney Asirvatham, President of the Malaysian Society of Aesthetic Medicine (MSAM).
Billed as the most prestigious aesthetic medicine and surgery event in ASEAN, the event brought in 1,000 delegates and buyers, with more than 110 globally-renowned speakers who were present and discussed on 50 symposium sessions of more than 200 topics featuring case studies, scientific programmes, business updates, and developmental topics.
Apart from conferences and plenary sessions, attendees were also hosted to an exhibition featuring 50 sponsors and exhibitors representing hundreds of brands and products. They included a wide range of products featuring the most recent innovations and cutting-edge technologies in aesthetic medicine and surgery, designed to treat and enhance aesthetics from head to toe.
The AMSC 2023 closed with a gala dinner themed ‘Asian Elegance’ that was an unforgettable evening of food, entertainment, opulent giveaways and more networking opportunities at one of the most luxurious hotels in Malaysia, the Grand Hyatt Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
Another highlight of the AMSC 2023 is the first-ever pre-conference Cadaver Dissection Hands-on Training. Known as the ‘Anatomy Masterclass’, it was held on 13 July 2023 at the Advanced Surgical Skills Centre, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM in Kuala Lumpur. Guided by five top medical professionals, the course provided live hands-on training for every participant on fresh cadavers, with in-depth discovery of each layer of the face from the temple and forehead to the midface, chin, and jawline. The session allowed practitioners to refine their techniques and precision guided by expert instructors, and covered areas including anatomical precision, understanding anatomical structures and vascular complications. Comprehensive knowledge of the facial anatomy will enable physicians to minimise the risk of complication and provide the best outcomes for patients.
Post-event, AMSC 2023 will also feature a one-day theory and practical course on facial ultrasound. The course has been designed to make participants ready for the use of facial ultrasound imaging in their own offices.
For the upcoming edition in 2024, the highly-anticipated AMSC 2024 will be even grander in scale with its collaboration with the International Society for Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery (ISDS). Coming to Malaysia for the first time next year, the event will be held on 19 – 21 September 2024 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
“As we embark on this transformative journey, AMSC 2024 and ISDS will aim to be the largest industry gathering in the region, bringing together luminaries in the field and fostering a platform for cutting-edge research, advancements, and best practices. Join us for this extraordinary event that promises to revolutionise the future of aesthetic medicine, surgery and dermatology”, said Mr Gary Chai, the Co-founder and Organiser of AMSC.
Dr Lim Ting Song, Scientific Director of AMSC, added, “The 42nd Annual Meeting of the ISDS International Society for Dermatologic and Aesthetic Surgery will be held this year from 28 to 30 September in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
