As the nature of work is constantly shifting, entrepreneurs need the power of community more than ever for sustainable success and growth. With that in mind, The Dune @ Light Grey — a future-forward, shared working space for committed entrepreneurs seeking a supportive ecosystem to grow— has officially been launched. This hub offers businesses exclusive access to advisory services, incubator programs, business matching, peer-to-peer learning, and mentorship, positioning itself as a comprehensive entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The opening took place at T6, Light Grey in Sungai Buloh on the 22nd of October 2024. With the theme ‘Sands of Time’, VIPs — including representatives from MDEC, Petronas, Sime Darby and China Construction Bank (CCB) — as well as future The Dune occupants alike came together. The event included some fabulous entertainment, including a lion dance performance, an Indian classical fusion dance performance, and a Zapin dance performance, as well as the opportunity for the first batch of The Dune’s cohort like HURUF, TESS, SION LABS, Moora, to network while having a bite to eat for lunch.
“New entrepreneurs often face significant resistance and many obstacles such as lacking knowledge or business skills, not having a strong enough team, not having enough funding, or even simply the lack of time and resources for business networking,” Nicholas Teh, Co-Founder of The Dune said. “For my co-founders and I, our entrepreneurial success only came once we shared our experiences as founders with each other and built an entrepreneurial ecosystem made of fellow entrepreneurs, investors, and business partners. That is how we believe business owners can bridge these gaps; they must collaborate with each other and support one another more intimately. With that in mind, The Dune is specifically intended to facilitate the kind of direct connection, guidance, and peer-to-peer learning that can ensure business success.”
The most unique aspect of The Dune is the availability of essential advisory services for a variety of business pain points for both brand-new and well-established entrepreneurs. With 45% of Malaysians hesitant to start a business due to fear of failure, even when a good opportunity is within reach, it’s clear that there is a strong demand not just for entrepreneurial resources, but also for guidance and support within the community.
The Dune accommodates these needs through providing access to comprehensive advisory services, including legal, accounting, tax, and even company secretarial services, in contrast to the lack of access to financing opportunities and education for SMEs in Malaysia. Additionally, its partnerships with leading firms and government entities allow entrepreneurs at The Dune to have direct links with potential investors and mentors, creating a comprehensive support system for scaling their businesses.
Furthermore, The Dune offers not only business matching services and connections with investors, but also accelerator and incubator programs, peer-to-peer learning options, and workshops that are ultimately shaped to strengthen the whole of Malaysia’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.
As Malaysia’s entrepreneurial landscape continues to evolve, The Dune aims to become a key player, offering unparalleled value to businesses at every stage of growth. This launch marks a significant shift in how spaces like these can serve as incubators for innovation and development, creating a thriving system that supports business owners every step of the way.
