Traditional Foot Massage @ Thai Odyssey Mid Valley Megamall

It’s been years since I had a foot massage and since I had some Thai Odyssey vouchers, I walked into Thai Odyssey @ 2nd Floor, Mid Valley Megamall for the earliest appointment, There’s a bigger outlet on the 3rd Floor and that outlet looks rather grand. I went to the 2nd Floor one simply because it is nearer. I asked for an appointment after lunch and got it.

You can choose between a 30-minute or 1-hour foot massage. Of course, 1-hour is preferable as 30 minutes passes just like that in the blink of an eye. Half hour is priced at RM79 while 1 hour is RM109. All prices are subject to 8% SST which jacks up the price quite a bit. Actually, sans vouchers I would have gone somewhere cheaper like neighbourhood malls where I can get 1-hour for RM50. That’s less than half the price of Thai Odyssey or other massage centres in more upmarket malls.

The foot massage treatment begins with a brief invigorating foot scrub for the removal of dead skin cells, keeping your feet soft and smooth, followed by the application of gentle acupressure to certain reflex points on the feet to improve flexibility and induce deep relaxation. It also helps to stimulate blood flow and ease muscle tension while flushing out toxins from your body.

If you are planning on taking this foot massage, it’s better to dress in pants that can be rolled up to the knees, otherwise wear a skirt or shorts. However, if your pants cannot be rolled up, they have something for you to change into, presumably a robe.

The foot scrub is really good as skin on the foot is immediately softer afterwards and you feel dead skin cells have been removed. Naturally having a skilled masseur massage your feet is so much more effective and better than doing it yourself.

Before the foot massage begins, I am handed a cup of tea. Then it’s on with the massage. I was given an option to put on eye shades but I declined as I’m not the type who easily dozes off in a public space. However, I must say the session was so relaxing that I almost had 40 winks. It did my feet a whole lot of good and the masseuse (Angie from Sabah) was so nice, polite and skilled. I would choose her again if I were to return. They do get very busy on weekends so I would recommend going on a weekday if possible if you plan on walking in.
