Clarins makeup is one of the most underrated of any counter brands, in my opinion. This is a brand that seems to be more well known for its skincare than its cosmetics (same with Clinique). A few years ago, I purchased a now discontinued Clarins foundation from their Beauty Fair and it was fantastic.
The Skin Illusion SPF 10 Natural Radiance Foundation is the latest foundation from Clarins and it promises the illusion of flawless skin. It contains a unique cocktail of mineral and plant trace elements – pink opal powder (a mineral silicon) and pink algae extract (a plant silicon).
These two key ingredients combine to give skin radiance and the benefits of skin care:-
1) Pink opal powder creates an optical light phenomenon called opalescence, which evens the complexion and gives it unrivalled radiance.
2) Pink algae extract stimulates cell regeneration. It has an energizing and stimulating action on the skin along with hydrating and softening effects.
This is quite a lightweight foundation with a scent I rather like, although of course the presence of scent in cosmetics is a subjective matter. It applies very quickly making my skin appear even-toned and imparts a radiance, even when powder has been applied over it.
I like the natural look of this foundation, it doesn’t make my face look as if there is a layer of foundation on it. It doesn’t give full coverage though, it’s medium coverage for me but it’s fine with me because I often find full coverage foundations too heavy and cakey.
With this foundation, I feel as if my skin can still breathe, if that makes any sense. What I mean is my skin doesn’t feel dry and tight after applying this foundation. Overall, I like everything about it and even the shade given to me (Nude) suits my skin tone very well. I had no problems with the lasting power as it appeared “fresh” even after 8 hours of wear.
Note : This review is based on a sample of the foundation. The foundation is 30ml/RM130.
