Sephora Smoothing Primer

This is Sephora’s version of Smashbox’s famous Photo Finish and Inglot’s Under Makeup Base. This is described as “a mattifying and smoothing primer to even out the skin while reducing shine”. It is formulated to improve foundation application while minimizing skin imperfections so makeup lasts longer and skin is left velvety smooth with a matte finish.

The instructions call for the primer to be glided over skin before applying foundation to matify, smooth, perfect, and prep your skin for a perfect foundation application. It can be mixed with a liquid foundation for a lighter coverage and to create an even skintone. Said to be ideal for combination-oily skin types.

It’s a very clear and light primer which looks like a drop of water on my skin rather than gel. Like any good primer, this one does smooth skin instantly and mattify skin. Pores don’t look so obvious, it’s definitely more ideal for oily skins than dry skins which don’t need primers as much. My skin is so smooth when I mix it with any liquid foundation.

I like the design of the bottle as it is so small that it fits in my palm and there is a pump dispenser. Good that it’s just 15ml as it takes me forever to finish using primers. It retails at RM49 which works out to be more pricey than Inglot’s version (30ml at RM76).
