Notes Of Nostalgia At Reminisce

It’s been a while since Reminisce opened at Mid Valley but only got round to having lunch there this month. I never noticed it before even though I’d dined at its neighbour, Brotzeit many times. Reminisce has a set lunch menu with what seems like endless choices so I am not surprised this is a popular place for the office crowd. With the main course, you get a choice of drinks and a dessert (no choice).

The decor at Reminisce is obviously very nostalgic as there are household items from decades past. If you are from Gen X, you might feel a little nostalgic at the sight of the candies in the transparent plastic jars with red caps. I don’t think they are just for show as they all have price tags.

There is a cabinet at the corner filled with what appears to be old toys and prizes. They made me remember my own childhood and I am sure those who are around my age will also reminisce a bit when they see the decorations in this restaurant.

Most of the set lunches are between RM13.90-15.90 which is the kind of price one would expect of eateries in Mid Valley. There are lots of rice sets and the one I chose was butter chicken on rice. This one came with a whole boiled egg. I noticed that just about all the rice sets had the same.

While my meal was satisfyingly filling, I can’t say there was anything special about it. It didn’t make me want to come back again for the same thing as the sauce wasn’t outstanding even if the chicken was sufficiently tender.

My friend ordered noodles in soup with dumplings and her only comment was that it tasted rather bland. I guess the nostalgia at Reminisce is limited to the decor and the food doesn’t bring back memories of yesteryear.
