It’s been more than a year since I last purchased a make-up product from Clarins. Their make-up collections for the previous year haven’t exactly been tempting enough to induce me to part with my money, that is until now.
What are the highlights of this collection? Well, there’s a 6 colour eyeshadow cum liner palette, 6 blushers (matte & shimmer shades), 3 Joli Rouge Brilliant and 4 Rouge Hydra Nude. Needless to say, I zoomed in on the eyeshadow/liner palette as it has an interesting mix of colours.
The Neo Pastels Eye Colour & Liner Palette has highlighter colours which can be used as an eyeshadow base, peach, pink, purple colours as well as a black gel liner. You can create a variety of looks with this palette, there’s quite a lot of potential.
Other than the purple colour which is matte, everything else has shimmer and more than decent pigmentation. The first colour (top left in the palette) took a few applications before it showed on my skin but the other colours were swiped just once. If there’s one thing I dislike, it’s counter brand eyeshadows which are difficult to swatch.
What really impressed me were the 6 Blush Prodige, they come in such a lovely array of shades. There’s something for everyone, whether you like a tanned, pink or peach shade, it’s all there.
There’s even 2 choices of pink, a soft pink and a stronger pink. I loved the tile design and the fact that they have matte and shimmer shades for sculpting and highlighting/illuminating. I couldn’t pass up on these lovelies even though I’ve never been into blushers. I just had to go home with one of them.
The Joli Rouge Brilliant lippies are RM83 while the Rouge Hydra Nude SPF6 are RM80. These look very moisturising and I am sure they feel lightweight and comfortable on the lips. I haven’t tried any from this collection but I have used Clarins lippies before and they are one of the best.
There are 2 other products in this collection, i.e. Instant Smooth Line Correcting Concentrate (RM100), a pen which releases a texture enriched with Dermaxyl®, a line-repairing peptide to banish wrinkles and Wonder Volume Mascara (RM82) for thickens lashes.
The eyeshadow/liner palette is 9g/RM145, Blush Prodige 7.5g/RM105. I consider these prices to be quite reasonable for a counter brand. Shu Uemura’s Glow-on Blush is only 5g and priced at RM82 but compare their packaging to Clarins. I have issues with Shu’s cheap looking plastic packaging and I have hinges which don’t close after a few uses. Clarins’ Neo Pastel palettes may be fingerprint magnets but at least they reflect the price charged and come in red velvety pouches. Now that’s classy!
