One of the pet shops I frequent is PetsMore because they have just about everything my dogs need and their prices are quite okay, even better if you have their membership card. One of the staff was nice enough to pass me some shampoo and conditioner sample sachets. I prefer purchasing dog bathing products from pet shops as they have a better variety and quality than supermarkets. My eldest dog is Lucky who is well advanced in years but thankfully still sprightly and just as lovable, loving and adorable as the day I brought her home. Let’s see what she thinks of Pet Esthé’s Shampoo for Long-Haired Dogs and Conditioner for Dogs and Cats.
When I saw my mum coming downstairs with the hair dryer, I knew it was THAT time of the month. I’m not stupid or blind and I don’t mean a visit to the vet. I know trouble when I see it and it’s Trouble with a capital ‘T’ when my mum brings down the hair dryer so I slunk away into my corner, hoping she’d forget about dragging me out to the bath area. In fact, I think I’m more clever than that bunch of construction workers opposite my house who have nothing better to do than jump in the air and throw imaginary objects at us just to watch us bark. The things some humans do! Anyway, I digress. No chance, my mum was resolute as she’d been putting off my bath day too many times. As i sit on the floor (albeit indoors) most of the time, my fur was getting a little dirty.
She took out the sample sachets of Pet Esthé’s Shampoo for Long-Haired Dogs and Conditioner for Dogs and Cats (20ml each). Ugh! Like I would have chosen to use any product meant for cats too and why would anyone in their right minds come up with a bath product for dogs and cats. Why would I want to smell like a cat? I’d rather have my au naturel scent which can’t be that bad otherwise that Rottie at the back wouldn’t be barking madly at me every time he sees me.
Over the years, I’ve learnt not to respond to my name unless I can smell food. In fact, when it comes to food, I’ll even go to my mum even if she doesn’t call me over. I hate baths, always have, always will. I don’t care what bath products my mum uses, they can be professional care products like Pet Esthé’s made in Japan but I’m just not keen on a bath.
So what if Pet Esthé’s Professional Shampoo & Conditioner come with UV care (Ultraviolet Ray Blocker), that the Shampoo contains a mixture of vegetable-extract moisturizing ingredients or that the Conditioner has a mixture of natural Vitamin E, avocado oil and rosehip oil. I’m a dog who doesn’t spend that much time in the sun anyway although there are days when my old bones need a bit more warmth than normal. Still, having UV care can’t hurt.
My mum can be kind of unreasonable sometimes. If I don’t come to the bath area voluntarily (when have I ever?), she’ll carry me over there. Hmph! I wish there was some authority I could complain to. Dogs should have a choice on whether they want a bath or not and not based on what their owners think. I don’t know which is worse – having a bath or having my nails clipped. Wait, I think having a bath is the lesser of 2 evils.
So my mum snipped open the shampoo sachet first and after wetting my body with a liberal spray of water from the hose *shudder* (luckily it was a hot morning), proceeded to dump the entire sachet of pink shampoo over my back. She rubbed it all over my body and remarked that it had such an aromatherapy scent, quite different from your run-of-the-mill dog shampoo. I reluctantly agreed that it didn’t smell as bad as I expected. In fact, I wouldn’t mind having this shampoo used on me next time I am forced to have my bath.
The shampoo lathered up nicely with one sachet enough for me although the recommended amount is 2 sachets for a medium-sized dog. It washed off quickly and thoroughly too which was nice because I don’t like standing up for my bath for too long. I tried to run off once before it’d been completely rinsed off but my mum has a firm hand.
Ingredients of the shampoo:-
Wheat germ oil, trimethylglycine (moisturizing vegetable ingredient), macadamia nut oil (emollient vegetable ingredient), Dead Sea salt, propolis (an ingredient extracted from the hives of honeybees), a mixture of vegetable extracts (aloe extract, Chlorella exgtract, Pueraria root extract, Clematis extract, Filipendula extract, seaweed extract, horsetail extract, ivy extract).
Available in 400ml/3 litres.
As for the conditioner, it was green. I’ve never seen a conditioner in such a pretty pastel shade. My mum told me that the product prevents fur tangles and static electricity. I hope so as I hate tangles, I like to keep my fur in optimum condition at all times.
Oh yes, the conditioner really did untangle my fur quite well, leaving it soft and silky. My fur looked a lot better after my mum had given it the hair dryer treatment. I guess I really can’t blame my mum for putting me through another bath. The products were of good quality and I have to admit I smell a lot better than before. My mum says they are also gentle on her hands. I guess the bath wasn’t too bad after all as I’m scratching myself a lot less.
