I didn’t realise until I consulted Google that there were so many different ways of cleaning silver jewelry. Apparently, you can use Coke, pearls, vinegar, stones, baking soda. I chose the baking soda way as it seemed the most simple and besides, I had plenty of baking soda.
My silver charm bracelet had long been in need of cleaning as it was so tarnished. There are 2 ways of using the baking soda. I tried the soaking the bracelet in baking soda mixed with water so it became a thick paste.
After half an hour, the bracelet was still tarnished. Clearly this way was not effective for my bracelet so I had to go on to the second way of using baking soda which was to pour some into a pot lined with tin foil. The bracelet would have to be placed on to the foil.
I kept checking on the bracelet by using chopsticks to fish it out. In less than half an hour, I could see the difference. This is a far more effective way of cleaning silver jewelry than just chucking it into baking soda paste. I guess it has a lot to do with the tin foil.
Much better than before! Silver jewelry is nice but such a pain as they have to be cleaned every so often otherwise they look ghastly. Baking soda is very useful to have around the kitchen.
Accidentally came across this post when reading your blog and I will try it on my bracelet when i have the time! Thanks for the tips!
Thanks, at least it’s useful to 1 reader.
