Maybelline’s latest range of lippies is known as “Watershine Pure Diamonds” because it’s about high shine, shimmer and sparkle. They consist of natural water, giving it a crystal-clear base and unobstructed colour clarity for magnified shimmer.
The casing is in gradational pink plastic with a band of faux diamonds in the middle. I could have done without the decoration in the middle because it isn’t classy, it’d have been better to have the entire casing in pink ombre but that’s just my opinion. Some may find it looks good, it’s a matter of taste.
Packaging aside, the colour I received is in 310 which is a pretty rose shade. I think that best describes the colour since it is neither red nor pink nor brown. When swatched or worn on the lips, the colour is a lot less intense than what you see.
While I have no issues with the colour since it is my kind of colour nor texture because it is very moisturising (thanks to the enriched Vitamin E formula), the lasting power isn’t fantastic as it fades on me after an hour or so and this is when I haven’t taken a sip of water or consumed anything.
Reapplication is necessary for me throughout the day. It does leave stains on my cups but then this is expected , from my previous experience with Maybelline lippies. As the day progresses, less shimmer and sparkle can be seen on the lips.
Overall, I think it’s a reasonably priced, quality acceptable for the price lipstick. Lasting power can be improved upon but the lipstick is moisturising enough without having to use lip balm underneath. The lipstick seems glossy enough for me to pass on lip gloss.
There are 6 limited edition shades available and they retail for RM24.90 each.
