Haritha Shan with Betty, Archie & Veronica
When I interviewed Haritha Shan about MAC’s Archie’s Girls Collection, my first question was what is the Betty and Veronica look? Betty is the quintessential American blue-eyed blond with fair skin whereas Veronica is the tanned and brunette socialite. Each one has a signature look so Haritha explained what she did for each look.
The Betty Look
Betty’s foundation is flawless to show off her natural freckles. Blend with 187 Duo Fibre Face Brush or 188 Small Duo Fibre Face Brush to push in the foundation. Mineralize Skinfinish was used for a natural finish.
MAC Beguile Brow Set was used to set Fling eyebrow pencil. A Cream Colour Base was applied before Dreammaker shadow (pale frosty yellow) in the Betty eye shadow palette. In the crease, Haritha applied Cheryl Chic (light coral pink) and Showstopper (dark brown) also in the Betty eye shadow palette.
The eyeliner is Lord It Up Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner (bronze with gold flecks). Lash 36 was affixed and Opulash Optimum Black Mascara applied. For the bottom lash line, Lord It Up was sharpened to a fine tip to create the elongated lashes. 266 Small Angled Brush was used to create the lines.
Lingering Eyebrow Crayon was used to create freckles and to intensify Betty’s natural freckles. Cream Soda Powder Blush and Flatter Me Pearlmatte Face Powder were mixed together. On lips are Girl Next Door Lipstick and Stay Sweet Lipglass.
Betty wears Nail Lacquer from the permanent range
The Veronica Look
No foundation was used, just Pro Longwear Concealer mixed with Strobe Cream all over the face and set with Mineralize Skinfinish for a porcelain complexion. Spike Eyebrow Pencil was used for the brows. Clear Brow Set was used to brush the hairs.
For natural looking eyes, Haritha blended concealer and added Dreammaker shadow from the Betty eye shadow palette. Just a dash of Designer Purple Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner was applied and blended with a 266 brush on the eye crease.
Spoiled Rich and Ron Ron Run shadows from the Veronica eye shadow palette were used. On cheeks are Prom Princess Blush and Veronica’s Blush Pearlmatte Face Powder. On lips are Ronnie Red Lipstick and Strawberry Malt Lipglass (on centre of lips).
Veronica wears Past Curfew Nail Lacquer
Here’s the rest of the interview with Haritha:-
What is the difference between Pearlmatte Face Powders and Beauty Powders and are the Pearlmatte Face Powders used the same way as Beauty Powders?
The Pearlmatte Face Powders have more of a pearly effect while the Beauty Powders are more satin but both are used to highlight the high panels of the face.
What are your recommended/must-have products from this collection?
The Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners because they have glitter in them so you don’t need much more after that.
Given a choice between the Betty and Veronica eye shadow palettes, which do you prefer?
The Caramel Sundae (Betty) palette as it can take you from day to night.
Your thoughts on the nail lacquers in this collection?
They give a really nice coat of colour and my favourite is Past Curfew (deep berry).
Is the Caramel Sundae eye shadow palette more suitable for fair skin tones and the Spoiled Rich eye shadow palette more suitable for darker skin tones?
No, there is no such thing as certain colours only being suitable for fair/dark skin tones as it all comes down to the application.
How do you recommend the pigments be used?
Mix them with Fix + as that will give a well blended effect.
Are you a Betty or a Veronica?
Veronica because I like the glam lifestyle. Veronica is very me.
Do you think Archie will end up with Betty or Veronica?
Much as I like Veromca, I think he will end up with Betty.
veronica’s looks really awesome!
