It Takes Two To Rock

When I was asked to post something on the topic above, I was a little stumped. What two things rock? Strawberries and cream, tea and crumpets, eye shadow and eye liner? I thought long and hard, in fact I thought about it all April and then it hit home that I didn’t have to look very far for something that fits the topic.

It’s me and my 9 year old Mini Fox Terrier, Chica. She’s the joy of my life and also the bane of my life. She’s an angel and a devil in one dog. If any dog needed Cesar Millan’s help, it’d be her as she’s often not in a calm, submissive state especially when the weather turns bad. So much for watching countless episodes of “The Dog Whisperer”, it hasn’t helped me much in disciplining my little terror.

As every loving dog owner knows, dogs are so easy to spoil as they are adorable and look up to us as if we are the centre of their lives. One of the best things about dogs is that they are by nature, such happy animals and when you come home after a few hours, they greet you as if they haven’t seen you in days. They don’t keep grudges and even when punished, they won’t slink off into a corner and sulk. They easily forget that they have been punished and are always ready to shower you with love and affection. Dogs are such social animals and they just love being around people. They don’t give you attitude nor will they ever snub you as humans do.

I guess I have spoiled Chica from the day I met her in another country. Yes, Chica isn’t from Malaysia. She was brought over to Malaysia via an arduous 10 hour flight 8 years ago. It must have been quite a terrifying time for her as she was stuck in a crate in the cargo section of the aircraft and she must have been barking her head off in vain.

When she was 8 weeks old, she fit almost snugly in the palm of my hand. Now that she is in her senior years, she looks no bigger than a puppy from a larger breed of dog and weighs around 5kg which means I can easily carry her around in one hand. A lot of visitors mistake her for a puppy although experienced dog owners can tell how old she is already from her white muzzle. Nevertheless, she still behaves like a puppy as she is insecure and definitely suffers from separation anxiety especially if left alone when there is a thunderstorm. Stuck in the bathroom once when it was raining heavily, she has been terribly traumatised by that experience and has the tendency to attack the bathroom door ever since by ripping down the wood with her paws. A little dog can still do a lot of damage to objects! I’ve just had the much damaged door changed and hopefully she won’t do it again but I wouldn’t count on her being a reformed dog.

Many people would have given up on my little dog if she was theirs to deal with but I have never (seriously) thought about handing her to a shelter. My friends shake their heads sadly when I tell them how much damage my little dog has caused. She’s injected much joy in my life despite her issues with the weather. It’s so easy to forget the travails of the day as soon as I see her. With her joyous and energetic barking, vigorous wagging of her tail and constant jumping (Cesar might even deem her a lost cause but then Cesar can work miracles), my oxytocin level gets an instant boost. She’s like a dog that will never grow up mentally, she still behaves as she did when she was a pup.

Sitting on the chair, sleeping on the bed, chasing balls and expecting you to throw it back at her, people-watching at the gate, barking at the neighbour at the back – these are all things she loves to do. She knows how to snuggle under the duvet when it’s cold and rolling around on the covers are what she loves to do.

It’s been frustrating raising this dog because she doesn’t seem to get it about leaving the bathroom door alone when she hears the rumble of thunder and she may be far too energetic for a house. She runs so fast that I have often thought about entering her in some competitions, I am sure she would win if there was some food at the other end. She also jumps like a gazelle as her legs are long and powerful. I think her breed is more suitable to be raised on a farm where she can expend her boundless and unlimited energy chasing after farm animals and pests but if you asked me whether I’d do it all over again, I wouldn’t hesitate to say yes because it takes two to rock and together we do.

Now two products that rock are these OXY products that work hand-in-hand to control sebum secretion for a more matte look and reveal a fairer/brighter complexion – Pure White Wash & Pure White Face Cream.

Pure White Wash & Pure White Face Cream

Both products contain REGU®-FADE, a pure nature-identical resveratrol, a known antioxidant found in red grapes that has various health benefits such as skin brightening and whitening. Other key ingredients in this range include Hyaluronic Acid and Aloe Vera Extract.

The Pure White Wash feels slightly gritty as it has soft exfoliating microbeads. This helps to remove dead skin cells and prevent pores from clogging. It controls sebum production to minimise shine and keeps skin fresh and matte. The Pure White Face Cream is very soft and lightweight. It contains Ethyl Ascorbic Acid which is a new generation of stable Vitamin C derivative that lightens dark spots and evens out skin tone. The Face Cream comes with SPF 30 PA+.

  1. I love animals. But I prefer cats over dogs becoz dogs are too energetic and need constant attention and they are LOUD. Cats on the other hand, will laze around or sleep on the lap when they are stroked… I guess I’m more like a cat person, that’s why I love cats more. Oh how I miss my babies.
