Your question get me thinking =). I have racking my brain for all the travels I did.
My most memorable experience was my first time of staying in a hotel and it was a 5stars hotel. We were actually sponsored for a special event and so it was a 3 days FREE holiday there. I was the odd one and so I had the room to my own. The room was huge and being a ‘kampung’ girl, I was totally clueless on how many things. On the first night, I couldn’t sleep because the day before, a cousin kept telling me ghost stories. I wasted all the amazing good food that I could eat for breakfast. The food was amazingly delicious and there were so many types to choose from. There were so many first time for me. I actually ordered fried egg because I forgot to ask my friend what hers called. I can’t be using sign language and draw pictures or else I would look like an idiot in front of so many lecturers there. To cover myself from embarrassment, I had to eat the fried egg sandwich in between two slices of bread and cheese. My friend asked me why I ordered fried egg and so I just have to say I ‘like it’. I didn’t know that there is differences to the side of the tap and near scalded myself alive. It was my first time of knowing how to use a safe box, hair dryer and feel the feeling of swimming pool. My mum wouldn’t let me near water because of an accident when I was young. Yeah, I learn how to call my friends in another room too. Actually, there are three telephones inside the room but my friends will only call the one next to the toilet bowl. That trip let me experience a lot of things that I was unable to before and I gained many valuable living skills that I was able to use later. It also made me a more understanding person as not everyone can experience this sort of comfort like having hot shower at home or eaten something called harsh brown.

My most memorable holiday experience must be my 3-months-holiday in Taiwan! During my last semester break, I went to Taiwan on my own and had 3 months of backpacker life there. Being a frequent traveler, I love to explore a new country and experience the local culture. Thus, I decided to have a long stay of 3 months in Taiwan. At the age of 22 years old, my parents are worried about my safety yet I myself is very excited to explore the world. During these 3 months, I was alone but I’m not afraid. I enjoyed the moment of being alone. I went around the country with a map in my hand. I slept in different backpacker’s hostels and met so many different people from different countries. I lost my way while traveling, but it doesn’t matter because losing way gave me a chance to explore places that I didn’t plan to visit. I missed the last bus at night, and managed to catch a ride from the friendly local Taiwanese family. I had so much hassle to reach to the museum that I wanted to visit so much and found that the museum was closed. Everyday is a surprise to me. All the planned schedule can eventually go so different!! The best thing for being a backpacker is the freedom. I can stop at anywhere I like; I can eat at any eateries without having to discuss with others; I can plan my schedule freely. Everything is so free and I let my mind go free as well. To me, this 3 months trip is a very precious gift to myself, a great chance for me to look inside myself. This is a really memorable holiday to me, so many stories to be remembered throughout the journey. A great experience indeed in my life. 😀

My most memorable holiday experience was during the time I joined PLKN (program latihan khidmat negara) after SPM. That was the first time I left my home and stayed in a strange place for 3 months! Although food was terrible, homesickness overwhelmed and sunburn everyday, this holiday experience indeed a memorable one .I stayed in a room with Malays, queuing up for long time in front of public phone just to call back home, built a camp with tree branches, stayed up in jungle, woke up so early in morning just to jog beside beach, flying fox and many many more. I knew a lot of friends there, with totally different backgrounds, we still had a lot of fun together. Many people are worried so much when they are chosen to join PLKN, I was one too. Believe me, this will be the most memorable experience you ever have.

My most memorable holiday experience was tagging along the superbikers club road trip to Kelantan & Terengganu. Though I’m just a escort car passenger and don’t get to experience the adrenaline rush riding on a superbike, it was a whole new holiday experience. It’s just a 3 days 2 nights trip and it’s kinda rush and tiring. We spent more time on the road than really enjoying the places of interest. But what do you expect when you are following a superbikers’ trip? It was a long journey from Penang to Tasik Kenyir, Terengganu (first stop), which took about 8 hours of driving. We reached in the evening and only get to enjoy the swimming pool. And the next day early morning, we started our journey to Kelantan. And same thing, we reached in the evening and didn’t enjoy the beach at the resort we were staying, as it was raining for whole day that day. Luckily, we managed to squeeze out some time before going back Penang the next morning. We woke up early to wait for sunrise at the beach. It was a really nice beach and we took a stroll in the dark. Finally, the sun slowly rising up, but… we couldn’t see the sun as it was cloudy that day. Sigh, bad timing. And that’s it, our whole trip. You might be wondering, why are we tiring ourselves to go on a literally ROAD TRIP? It was the group of people that I really enjoyed. Nice and fun people. We eat and talk along the journey. We laughed, we played. It’s just simply relaxing. It gives me peace of mind when I get to mix with totally different group of people than those I usually see around me. I’m looking forward to more road trips with them, and I hope I get to ride on the superbike too 😛
My most memorable holiday experience was Korea. I went there middle of 2012 and was overwhelmed by the beautiful country and the of course the cosmetics and how cheap they were! The people were so courteous and the food was absolutely delicious! A funny experience I had was during one for the 8 days I was there. One day, after lunch, our tour guide gave us an hour of free and easy time near Myeongdong shopping district. I was browsing at some makeup which were on sale outside a shop and was approached by a and old man around his 70’s. He told me that he was a patrolling guard for that area and that he just came by to say hello as he noted that I was a tourist. I was sure he wasn’t a guard as he was not dressed in uniform and has no badge either. Before I could react, he grabbed by hand in a handshake and shaked it vigorously while asking “Are you married?”. My mind went blank at that instant and just automatically my gut feeling asked me to answer “Yes”! After hearing my answer, he dropped my hand and walked away! I informed my sister which was in another shop regarding the incident and we laughed it off and my sis said, “Wow not bad,you are able to attract old man too!”
