It looks like TWG Tea is expanding rapidly what with the opening of its Gardens outlet. It does seem rather open though, lacking privacy as those from the floor above who have nothing better to do can gaze down as you are sipping your cup of fine tea and chomping down on the delicate sandwiches and fine cakes and pastries.
I am not sure if this is the biggest TWG Tea outlet in Malaysia but it’s very long and I notice constantly crowded no matter what time of the day I pass by. Of course tea time is probably the most crowded since they have a tea time menu only available between 2 to 6pm. I chose the Chic Set which comes with a choice of tea worth RM19 and I could choose from 3 set menus. I settled on the Imperial set.
I asked the waitress to recommend a strong tea and she suggested a Sri Lankan tea which didn’t turn out to be very strong at all especially when milk was added. There are no tea leaves in the pot so you cannot ask for hot water to be added, you just have to order another pot of tea. I had to ask for a jug of milk, it isn’t brought to the table unless requested, perhaps many customers do without milk? Does this look like strong tea to you? The tea was lukewarm and of course as I had my second and third cup, it got colder. I don’t get it. I know that boiling water isn’t appropriate for many teas but I really don’t like my teas lukewarm.
The chicken sandwiches were okay, not fantastic and I chose a slice of raspberry cheese cake which was much better than the sandwiches. The piece of chocolate on the cake was delicious.
Then I had another pot of tea, TWG exclusive blend named White House which is a Chinese tea. That was very pleasant with a hint of rose but again served lukewarm. I don’t quite get this lukewarm tea. Maybe I am the only customer who minds?
I think they prepared a big pot of tea in advanced and pour some out into the small tea pot when customers place order, therefore the lukewarm tea. I don’t mind lukewarm tea but I do mind if the tea is cold, as you said that the 2nd and 3rd cup of tea are cold. By the way, your raspberry cheese cake looks so yummy! 😀
The only thing nice about this tea was the raspberry cheese cake, so tart without being too sweet. Lukewarm when poured into the cup but cold after a few minutes. After all, one doesn’t down the entire cup in one go.
TWG is not cheap and I’m surprised that they serve lukewarm tea.
Me too. Can they please serve hot tea at RM19 a pot (not including tax)? I get hotter tea at home.
I prefer hot tea,hahaha!!
Definitely, any time and any where!
