If it wasn’t for Avenue K’s Food Adventure, I might have walked past Maison D’lights a few more times before I discovered it. It’s a small kiosk managed by Maison D’lights owner, Kevin Tan who is one of the most youthful looking business owners I have ever met. At 24, Kevin already has much experience making pastries and chocolates as he’s previously worked at Shangri-La and Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
Kevin’s experience with chocolate making procedures and techniques was gained during his tenure at Mandarin Oriental Hotel’s pastry kitchen. He’d spend his free time developing recipes for gourmet chocolates. Kevin saw an opportunity in starting a handmade chocolate business because not many specialize in handmade chocolates. It is indeed a time-consuming process which requires much patience.
Maison D’lights offers dark chocolate bars containing different amounts of cocoa, it gets as high as 70%. I can take as high as 53% but 70% would be much too high for me. However, I am sure there are plenty of cocoa fans out there who would love the dark chocolate bars containing 70% cocoa.
For someone so young, Kevin already has a wealth of knowledge regarding chocolate making and he’s very generous with the samples so nibble on those samples as you check out all that Maison D’lights has to offer from chocolate lollies to chocomix. You can also order customized party or wedding favours here as well as corporate gifts.
When you look at Maison D’light’s creations, you can see how much passion Kevin has for the craft much like how you can see how much passion someone has for blogging from the content in their blog. If it’s mainly the “cut-and-paste” type of blogging, go figure. Kevin has started off small with his kiosk but I am sure that with his creativity, he will be even more busy in the coming years.
Maison D’light is located at C Level Avenue K, a stone’s throw from Sushi Box. Their facebook page is www.facebook.com/maisondlights

Agree with your view that we could see one’s passion for something based on how effort they put into something. Oh, Kevin’ chocolates look so good and the price are really reasonable for the amount of good quality ingredients and effort in it. I love dark chocolates and can eat as much as 70% of dark cocoa in it. Yum!
