Other than the Crush Metal Pigments from last year’s Spring Forecast Collection, I don’t own any pigments from MAC’s permanent range. Recently, I obtained some pigment samples to try out for a gold look. The most golden pigments available at the MAC outlet I went to were Golden Lemon & Old Gold.
Yellow wouldn’t be my first choice of eyeshadow colour but to be adventurous, one must try as many colours as possible. Golden Lemon is more of a lemon shade than golden. It’s a vibrant, sunny yellow which really brightens up the eyes. There is quite a lot of shimmer and I use it on the inner corners of my eyes blending towards the middle of the lids.
Old Gold is such a beautiful colour, it’s gold with olive-green undertones. Paired with Golden Lemon, it gives the eyes such a golden glow. It tones down the brightness of Golden Lemon. I like Old Gold more than Golden Lemon, it has a lot of potential as I can pair it with my two yellow eyeshadows (yes, I have very few yellow shadows).
I used these 2 pigments in just 4 steps:-
The pigments apply very smoothly and are easy to blend. I used Impeccably Rich Big Bounce Shadow as a base because I wanted longer staying power and it’s always easier to apply pigments over some sort of eyeshadow base or primer. You can even use concealer as a base if you don’t have any base/primer.
MAC’s pigments are only available at their stand alone outlets and they are 4.5g/RM82 each.
