Before the Sunway Lagoon event last night, my friend and I planned to have dinner at Johnny Rockets Sunway Pyramid as she had never been to an outlet before. I told her about my one and only dining experience there months ago and said I’d join her provided dinner was on her as I’d made a pledge to never go back at my own expense. My friend is very obliging and agreed that dinner was her treat. Nice friend, I’ll buy you dinner soon 🙂
Johnny Rockets Sunway Pyramid is very spacious with seats on an upper level too. The music was very loud as we entered, the staff were just about finished with one of their performances. After perusing the menu, I decided on Smoke House Single @ RM26.90 with sharp cheddar cheese, beef bacon, JR’s crispy onion rings and “Smoke-House” barbecue ranch sauce.
Although all we ordered were 2 mains, a serving of American fries and 2 drinks, the waitress seemed to have some difficulty memorizing the order which led my friend to remark as to why they don’t have a note pad. She repeated the entire order 3 times and once again after she’d left us to our own devices.
The Smoke House Single arrived in about 10 minutes which is very prompt. The burger is a reasonably good size with fries and coleslaw (there could have been a bit more coleslaw). At first bite, I thought the burger tasted rather flat. There was no kick to the taste, it wasn’t that it was bland. It’s just that I didn’t feel the urge to eat more because I wanted to. You know when something is so tasty, you just want more of it? It didn’t feel like that at all with this burger.
Neither the meat nor the sauce were so delicious that they were unforgettable and I know I won’t hanker for this again. Maybe I should try their pasta the next time I am there but again, someone else would have to buy me lunch/dinner because this 2nd visit reinforces my decision not to spend my own money there.
