I have already extended the invitation to the upcoming ELC sale to a few of you and now I’d like to give you some tips which hopefully will be useful and beneficial to first-timers. I guess I can consider myself a sale veteran since I have attended a number of beauty sales where the queue is incredibly long so here are some of my tips:-
Wear a dress/trousers with pockets
You don’t want to bring a bag to the sale since you will definitely be asked to pop your bag into a sealed plastic bag and do you really want to lug around your bag when you are bargain hunting? Just bring your cash/credit card in a small purse and you don’t want to be holding on to your mobile phone either so the more pockets you have, the better!
Arrive as early as possible
Don’t be surprised if you hear people getting to the venue right after midnight even though doors open after 8am. If you get there at 8am, then you won’t have a chance to be the first batch of shoppers inside and all the good stuff will be snapped up by the time you get to the counters.
Have a hearty breakfast before you leave the house
Actually I don’t eat before I attend a sale as I don’t want to have to rush to the toilet. I endure my hunger for a bit since I don’t intend to stay long at any sale. However it makes sense to eat well before you go shopping especially if you intend to stay for a few hours. You will need energy to walk around the venue a few times.
Head towards Bobbi Brown first
Every other counter can wait. If you love cosmetics, then the first counter you should head towards is Bobbi Brown as they have rather limited stock of some covetable sets.
Head towards fragrances next
If you aren’t looking for cosmetics, then check out the fragrance counter first. They always have some nice fragrances at bargain prices and some of the sets that come with body lotion make good presents.
Try and go with a friend
Going with a friend is useful as they can help keep your spot in the queue if you need to dash to the toilet and it’s much less boring waiting if you have someone to chat with.
Bring cash if possible
You will find there’s less waiting time at the cashier if you pay with cash instead of credit card.
Grab first instead of deliberating
Don’t spend too much time thinking about whether to get something. Just put it in your bag if you are 50-50. You can always return it to the respective counters if you finally decide you don’t want/need it.
