Mural, Mural On The Wall : Greenpeace Malaysia Launches Mural In Partnership With DBKL

dsc_3184This morning, Greenpeace Malaysia, with the support and partnership of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) launched a new mural in Kuala Lumpur’s historic Chinatown district. The new mural aims to spread awareness about the plight of Indonesian rainforests.

The mural is part of a global Greenpeace campaign called “Wings of Paradise,” which aims to raise awareness on the ongoing destruction of Indonesia’s rainforests. An image of a Bird of Paradise, one of the most iconic species of the Island of New Guinea Papua, is now part of the Kuala Lumpur urban landscape.

The mural is designed by award-winning local artist Lee Hui Ling. Hui Ling is an artist who works in traditional and contemporary media, weaving social and historical references in multiple material and conceptual contexts. She is passionate about disaster and environmental education and advocacy through the creative arts.
