Daily food waste collected from 1 Utama tenants is deposited into the W.I.S.E. recycling machine and then converted into 100% organic fertilizer through a scientifically-managed process within a clean sterile environment led by a specialized team of trained professionals.
Machine functions are operated on a high-tech touch screen that controls the system’s mechanisms like fans, temperature, pumps, heater, motors, shredder, lifter, valves, blower, levels and tests.
What happens in the W.I.S.E. Recycling Machine:
Step 1 : Bins filled with recyclable food waste are hoisted up by a mechanical lifter and contents emptied into the W.I.S.E. machine chamber.
Step 2 : Big and bulky food waste is broken down by a large grinder.
Step 3 : Fermentation takes place with the inoculation of microbes to speed up the decomposition of the waste and then heated up to 70°C.
Step 4 : Temperature is increased to 80°C to kill all bad pathogens, living micro-organisms and all forms of bacteria like e-coli and salmonella.
Step 5 : Fertilizer is then dried.
Step 6 : Organic powdered fertilizer (no pathogen) is ready for packing.
With food waste being processed on site, 1 Utama reduces the transport to landfills, reducing and eliminating waste disposal.
