It’s April Fool’s Day when we pull a prank on someone or get a prank pulled on us, all in the name of harmless fun. You have every reason to be cautious about what you read in the papers or on the Internet today but there are some things that are genuine and I assure you this Giveaway is otherwise you can come after me.

Two years ago, I reviewed Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 PA+++ and thought it was an excellent sunscreen in every way from the scent, texture, how it looked on my skin, uniformity of application to the moisturising benefits. Some sunscreens can be way too thick and not easy to absorb into skin but this Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 PA+++ is nothing like that. I have rarely wanted to use the same sunscreen again but Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 PA+++ certainly makes me want to get it again. I remember that my skin felt so hydrated with this on. It didn’t feel like the typical sunscreen and it sure didn’t make my skin look pasty – it goes on translucent.

The translucent, non-greasy formula utilizes a high level of photostable sun filters Mexoryl SX™ and Mexoryl XL™ in combination with the antioxidant Vitamin E, which together provide skin with effective and balanced broad-spectrum sunscreen protection.

The oil-free, dual-protection lotion helps to prevent sunburn caused from UVB rays and provides protection from the UVA rays that may contribute to skin damage and premature skin aging.  The unique formulation is longer lasting than non-photostable UV systems because it is stabilized under sunlight and maintains a higher UVA protective barrier. This sunscreen is certainly ideal for oily skins since it feels so lightweight and leaves a matte finish.

  1. Hi….

    1. your sunscreen experience(s), e.g. what sunscreens have worked (or not worked) for you and why you like (or not like) them.

For I’ve have high brand and budget brand sunscreens that I love. High brand will be Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF 50 PA++ has been my fav, coz it feels I got the protection that I’ve wanted. I don’t feel sticky or feels like burning when I’m under the sun. For budget brand will be Biore UV AQUA Rich Watery BB, coz I can get the protection as I want it from High brand and it’s a plus when it has BB cream function and makeup base. So I can save time lol…..

    2. what factors are important to you in sunscreens, e.g. SPF level, oil-free, tinted, protection from both UVA and UVB rays, non-sticky/greasy etc.

Most important factor in my sunscreens have to be the SPF level which is 50 (has i feel more protected and I don’t have to touch up too often =p) and no sticky or greasy feeling when I’m wearing it. Lastly of course, I want my sunscreen to act as a sunscreen which protect me from the UVA and UVB. I still want to look pretty for my hubby =p

    Cheers!

  2. Hi Juniper,

Thank again for the wonderful giveaway =) .

    1. The first generation of suncreen that I was introduce to when I was younger was so so thick that it caused me to broke out more than I already was. The texture then only suits those for mature skin, creamy, oily, thick, not hydrating, smell funny, contains low spf and no UVB protection at all. I stop using suncreen because it doesn’t help my skin at all.
Fast forward to now, there are many sunscreen that is out in the market that can cater to my skin type too =) .

    2. There are many factors that I consider in getting sunscreen.
    a) non comedogenic – no point of me wearing sunscreen that cause me clogged pores and
    acne.
    b) no weird fragrance- i usually do not like smelling the fragrance on my face at the time
and be reminded that i wear sunscreen. It is uncomfortable.
    c) High SPF and PA protection- My skin burn easily so low spf and pa doesn’t work for me.
    d) texture- I love sunscreen that is watery, transparent, doesn’t leave any cast and super
light. I don’t like anything sticky too.

  3. 1. I have used many sunscreen from different brands and Garnier Light is the only one that I will always restock when I finished them. It only has a low SPF of 15 and I only apply it when I stay indoor. I love it because it does not leave a sticky and oily feeling on my skin after application and this is very important to me since I really can’t stand the stickiness and oiliness. I think it works well because it brightened up my skin tone as commented by my friends. I use Sunplay SPF130 for outdoor and I think it works pretty well on me. The only thing I don’t like is its greasy texture. However, I love it because it is waterproof and it has a very high SPF. Biore UV Perfect Milk SPF50+ is my another favourite sunscreen for outdoor. It is less sticky and waterproof but still, it’s a bit oily on my skin. (But less oily as compared to Sunplay) It works very well on me and I use it when I need t be under the scorching sun for long hours.

    2. When I buy sunscreen, the first thing that I consider is its SPF level. The next thing will be the texture. I will prefer a less sticky and greasy sunscreen as I mentioned before. After this I will look at the extra benefits of the sunscreen. Some sunscreens come with whitening and moisturizing effects but some sunscreens only offer UV protection. As a smart consumer, I will definitely go for the sunscreens with more benefits haha~~ Oh ya, some sunscreen leaves behind whitish patches on my face after application and I would never buy them. They make me look like a zombie ==

Thanks for the giveaway Juniper! Hopefully I can win it since I’m looking for a better sunscreen to replace my Sunplay. It is way too greasy and I feel uncomfortable especially after I sweated. I have heard how good Kiehl’s sunscreen is but the price is too steep since it only comes in 30mL.

  4. 1. Lancôme uv SPF 50 really work for me, my skin still fair n not get sun burn after my sipadan diving trip!
    2. The driven for me to pick up a product with my own hard earn money is good coverage, not oily or shinning after application, price and pleasant smile ( not too strong of chemical or alcohol smell)

  5. I have my criteria in choosing my sunscreen:-

    1. It must be more of a “moisturizer that also has SPF” instead of a “sunscreen.” Confession: I’m really lazy at “being a girl,” meaning I don’t like spending a long time primping and making myself up. I like to spend ten minutes at maximum getting my face ready for the day.

    2. It must be no lower than SPF 30. Particularly for the face, any SPF below 30 does not offer adequate protection.

    3. It must be oil-free. While this might not apply to everyone, I have found that whenever I try a skincare that isn’t oil-free, I get major breakouts. Oil-free also just makes my skin feel freer and less congested.

    Banana boat
    Biore uv aqua
    Sun play range
    Shiseido anessa
    Hada labo uv 50 SPF

I tried all the above sunscreen and the best was sun play range because it provided protection without the greasiness of typical sunblocks! It does not clog my pores, and is sheer enough to put under the makeup.

  6. 1. I really do not like sunscreen that will leave greasy, sticky and oily feeling on my face since my skin is prone is prone to acne. I remember there is a brand with high SPF which I used it during outdoor activities. After I put on the sunblock, it really made me feeling like I was wearing a super suffocated mask. As expected, I had a serious breakout after that. The feeling is terrible and I wouldn’t want to try again. Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+ PA+++ is a really good product that you will feel like you did not apply anything on face, it is really watery, light and fresh! Plus, its SPF is high too! I wonder how Biore achieve all these in one sunblock!

    2. SPF level is important for me as I always walk to class under hot sun. I would prefer non tinted, light and fresh sunblock which will not clog my pores but at the same time provide certain level of SPF to protect my skin.

    Thanks for giveaway again!

  7. Sweetie, thank you for the giveaway!

I enjoy most Japanese sunscreens aside from Suhadafit. It feels very heavy and dulls my complexion.

Lightweight, non greasy sunscreens with high SPF and PA protection are a must for me. The ones that don’t comply with these simple criteria are passed on to other individuals (namely my family members and friends hahaha).

  8. Hello, Ms Corinne!

I don’t really like to wear sunscreen because I hate the fact that it will leave whitish cast on my face, it makes me look ‘fake’, like putting foundation overly. Brands like Banana, Aqua Play gave me that kind of look despite of being the brand specialized in sunblock/sunscreen. I also don’t like sunscreen/sunblock because i afraid the greasy texture will clog my pores as facial pores is my largest concern. I must say that it is not that they dont work, i just concern on my appearance and facial pores size more than the benefit of it. But then it is so so so important to protect my skin from the UV light. So i was in dilemma until i meet this brand Biore which has a few numbers of sunscreen of different properties. I am like ‘wah’ so many type of sunscreen,i sure will find one that suit my demands. And it does not disappoint me. I found my sunscreen love, Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence (water base)! Of course, the biggest reason of liking it is that it is not greasy and leave my skin as if nothing. A plus point to it is that it have very high SPF ( SPF 50) and PA (PA +++).

As for my criteria in selecting a sunblock/sunscreen…well it is very simple, as long as it does not leave any whitish cast on my face, and it does not clog my pores will do. Because i believe all type of sunblock and sunscreen work in preventing the UV rays damaging our skin.
