Sometimes we have unexpected skin problems – skin may suddenly become irritated, we may have minor burns, cut our finger accidentally, get bitten by an insect which leaves skin swollen, get scraped during outdoor activities or have acne scars from hormonal imbalance.
When it comes to cuts and wounds, many of us just run it with water and cover up with a plaster without further treatment. I know I do that as I believe the wound will heal naturally. However, a poorly treated wound in an unhygienic environment will increase the risk of wound infection.
The signs & symptoms of infected wound:
- Increased or sustained pain
- Redness or swelling
- Pus Discharge
- Non-healing of the wound
Untreated chronic wounds happen when it is unable to heal on its own. This is due to a bacterial infection that may cause irritations and the wound to be either too wet or too dry. Irritation may occur even when your wound is dry because the inner part of the wound is not properly healed.
Eau Thermal Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream is not just your ordinary cream
Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream has uniquely formulated skin-repairing properties for sensitive skin to heal and to soothe your skin from irritations at the same time. Cicalfate is adapted particularly for the treatment of skin irritations and following dermatological surgery.
Fragrance free and paraben free, Cicalfate cream is formulated using a unique Cicalfate technology, whereby its active ingredients are sucralfate and the combination of copper-zinc elements to:
• Avoid further bacterial infection:
The combination of copper-zinc compound is used to limit the risk of bacterial collection and growth.
• Repair the wound
Once the bacteria have been removed, the sucralfate ingredient helps to stimulate the growth of skin cells to speed up the healing process.
• Soothe
During the healing process, when the surface of the wound is dry and rough. Irritations may still occur because of the new skin growth. Thus, the presence of Avene Thermal Spring water in this Cicalfate cream is to soothe the irritation and inflammation during the healing process.
I thought the cream was a bit thick and concentrated but bear in mind, this cream is NOT for the entire face and is technically NOT a moisturizer. It is a treatment cream for areas of skin that need repair. I have cracked lips especially at the sides and applied this cream at least twice a day as recommended. Yes, it certainly helped as the cracked areas were not as sore and got “repaired” gradually. You just need a tiny amount for each application which means this tube will last a long, long time even if you use it every day.
Avene Cicalfate Repairing Cream can be used to heal cracked lips, dry irritation, cuts, light burns, bug bites, diaper rash, and laser treated areas and pimple scars. For optimum results, Avene recommends using Avene Thermal Spring Water to sooth and minimize the irritation or very inflamed skin. Followed by Cicalfate Repair Cream on broken skin, non-oozing eczema skin, stitching, skin ulcers or post laser treatments. Suitable for all ages from infants to elderly people.

RM40 for 40ml is certainly very reasonable! Most repair cream cost more than that.
