At the end of 2010, there were new additions to The Balm’s Collection at Sasa – Batter Up(TM) Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows. Available in 4 shades, I picked up the lightest shade “Base Hit Kit” as it seemed the most versatile. It could be used as a base for other forms of eyeshadows or on its own when I felt like using less makeup.
“Base Hit Kit” is a pale champagne, peach-gold with shimmer. It’s beautiful as a highlighter and can be used all over the eyelid as a base for powder or loose eyeshadows, it’s an especially good base for pigments. It is easy to blend and there’s no caking. In fact, I find it easier to blend than MAC’s Paint Pots which dry faster than The Balm’s version.
Actually, when you apply “Base Hit Kit” on your eyelids, you won’t see much colour as it’s pretty much a “complement-your-skin-tone” shade. However, it is useful as a base for intensifying the colour of eyeshadows. It makes the eyeshadows brighter and gives a brighter tone to whatever eyeshadow you layer over “Base Hit Kit”.
True to the product description, this creamy eyeshadow did not crease all day and it is waterproof as I couldn’t wash it off from the back of my hand with water. All the 4 Batter Up(TM) shades were lovely and my next choice would have been “Home Plate Kate” which also makes for a good highlighter with its sheer rose tone.
“Grand Slam Pam” and “Triple Play Mae” are the other 2 shades of Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows, these 2 are stronger shades with purple and brown tones. Compared to MAC’s Paint Pots (5g/RM70) and Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Stay-in-Place ShadowCreme (5g/RM65), The Balm’s version is slightly cheaper at RM58 for a 5g jar.
