One of Malaysia’s hottest designers, the award winning Hatta Dolmat, unveiled a stunning haute couture Festive Collection at the launch of SK-II’s Limited Edition Festive Facial Treatment Essence Collection at a prestigious event at the SK-II #ChangeDestiny Garden in Suria KLCC yesterday afternoon.
Inspired by the beautiful and vibrant colours of the flowers of the Tulip, Hydrangea, Freesia and Green Cypress, the flowers used by Taiwanese artist, Poh Chih Huang in his designs for the SK-II Limited Edition Festive Collection, Hatta weaved his magic to design 10 signature couture gowns including a breath-taking bridal gown as a finale to his showcase.
Hatta’s creations reflect the haute couture interpretation of Poh’s creative technique of working with flowers to bring out the different aspects of their beauty and vitality through transformation – a celebration of everlasting beauty as a tribute to Pitera™’s transformative power.
Hatta said, “I feel that there’s a lot of synergy working with SK-II as it is a prestige skin care brand and my designs are prestige statements. SK-II transforms a woman’s skin to be beautiful while I make a woman beautiful through my designs.
I was particularly inspired by the flowers and the garden theme from the SK-II Limited Edition Festive Collection which was so refreshing and gave me such a positive vibe with the colours and textures from the flowers used.”
As part of SK-II’s #ChangeDestiny campaign, SK-II is embarking on a special collaboration with Hatta Dolmat Couture for that magical, once in a lifetime milestone in a woman’s life – her wedding day.
Hatta shared, “The Hantaran is a major element of a Malay wedding and people look at the sets to see what prestigious and valuable gifts are exchanged between the bride and groom. Guests at the launch/showcase yesterday were pleasantly surprised when Malaysian songbird extraordinaire Yuna appeared to serenade while the models sashayed across the stage in fabulous Hatta Dolmat gowns inspired by the bold and vibrant flowers behind the designs of SK-II limited edition Festive Collection Facial Treatment Essence by Taiwanese artist, PohChih Huang. She has the most incredible voice and I can see why she is such a sensation here and overseas.
The texture and form of the 4 flowers on SK-II limited edition Festive Collection Facial Treatment Essence, namely tulips, hydrangeas, freesias and cypress provided Hatta with an artistic and creative landscape to shape his couture collection of gowns for SK-II.
Tulip Inspired
Desire
The feminine silhouette comes to the fore. The focus of the dress is on its structured look, with an emphasis on it modern shoulders and sleeves. Sequinned fabric and draping techniques around the waist add texture to the ensemble.
Romance
A light, ethereal look is conveyed by the soft fabric lace with sequins and skirt volume. The sheer, see-through fabric gives the gown a stroking silhouette.
Serenade
The large floral motif and draping techniques draw attention to an accumulated waist, while the flowing skirt exudes femininity inspired by tulips.
Eternity
The hourglass figure is celebrated in all its finery. The gown cuts a simple silhouette yet it is contemporary, classy and glamorous at the same time. It personifies all the qualities of SK-II.

Like a hydrangea flower, this dress has many layers and textures. It is complex yet highly wearable as textured pleats with folds create volume at the top and bottom of the dress.
Gratitude
Simplicity at its most striking. This gown focuses on the curves of a woman’s body with clean lines. Much like the petals of a hydrangea, the draping adds glamour, style and volume.
Glamour
Your eyes will be immediately drawn to the sequin fabric draping at the back of the gown, inspired by the hydrangea folds. The elaborate mermaid cut makes this gown red carpet ready.
Freesia Inspired
Innocence
Flower power is in full bloom. The freesia flower inspires this youthful design as glittering fabric, yellow lace and flowers with patch detailing enhance the palette and texture.
Elegance
Gold is at its boldest in this gown, which displays an elegant cut. Sequinned fabric adds glitter while a metallic look is incorporated in the top of the ensemble.
Destiny
Last but certainly not least, an avant-garde bridal gown. The elegance is simple yet pronounced by the silk lace fabric with draping technique and a flower embellishment at the waist.
