The Arbutin Whitening Mask was part of the My Beauty Diary Firming & Whitening Set purchased from Guardian at RM102.40 for 34 pieces (there were 15 pieces of the Arbutin Whitening Mask). Arbutin is a whitening agent commonly used in skincare for whitening effects.
This was one of the masks I’d brought along to cool down after a long day out at Bangkok’s malls. I’d stick the masks in the fridge before heading out for the day and when I came back to the hotel room and had my shower, I’d quickly rip open a sachet, lie back on the bed and enjoy the coolness of the mask.
As can be expected of the newer range of My Beauty Diary masks, the texture of the Arbutin Whitening Mask is a lot thinner than the older masks (please see pic above for a comparison). Thinner masks means more prolonged usage and they seem to carry more moisture.
Every night, I’d fall asleep for an hour and a half with the mask on my face. Thanks to the strong air-con, the mask would stay moist for far longer than in my room at home where I’d normally use it without the air-con.
There was so much serum in this mask that the excess would be dripping on to the bed or my clothes if I was sitting up instead of lying down. This is another My Beauty Diary mask that is chock-full of serum, it doesn’t dry up as quickly as the Mixed Berry Mask, for instance.
It gives an instant brightening effect but as with all other My Beauty Diary masks, whatever effect they have are temporary. It’s a good mask to bring along with you on vacation since you don’t have to lug it home. I prefer bringing sheet masks with me when I am away for the sheer convenience and the fact that they don’t take up much room in the luggage.
