Benefit held a b.right! skincare workshop recently at Yuzu Japanese Restaurant, The Gardens, MidValley City. The aim of this workshop was to introduce participants to Benefit’s latest hydrating skincare range, b.right! This was a hands-on session which was followed by a make-up demo during which participants had the opportunity to use many of Benefit’s bestselling cosmetics.
The workshop began with an introduction to the brand by Benefit’s brand manager, Jacqueline Chen. Benetint which is now a cult classic, was made in 1977 when an exotic dancer requested for a product which would make her nipples look pretty and pink. The other 2 uses for this famous product are for the cheeks and lips.
After removing make-up with Remove It Makeup Remover, we double cleansed with Foamingly Clean Facial Wash. Use a wash net or sponge to produce enough sponge to cushion skin while cleansing – ideally, your palm should not touch your face. This is also practised and advocated by Japanese brands such as Shiseido and Kanebo.
This is followed by the scrub or Refined Finish Facial Polish which has very fine granules and is a very gentle polish, not harsh on skin. It’s advisable to scrub twice a week especially if you do a lot of outdoor activities. Do scrub the neck as well, scrubbing encourages better turnover of dead skin cells.
Moisture Prep Toning Lotion is a gel toner which should be warmed up in the palms prior to application so that it becomes more diluted. It’s applied into skin using a cupping motion and then patted into skin using an upwards massage motion.
There are 2 types of moisturizers in the b.right! range namely:-
(1) Triple Performing Facial Emulsion SPF15 PA++
(2) Total Moisture Facial Cream.
It’s Potent! Eye Cream is applied using the 4th finger – massage from inner corner of the eye outwards to help improve blood circulation thereby preventing dark circles. Use the middle finger to press on 5 pressure points on the eye area.
The last step of the skincare regime is my favourite product in the b.right! range, the Ultra Radiance Facial Re-hydrating Mist which has such a fine and even spray. I just love the scent as it’s refreshing and great for especially humid days. For more details on this skincare range, please see my earlier post.
For basic makeup, just a few essential Benefit products are required:-
(1) dr. feelgood fine-line-diffusing, oil-absorbing balm which mattifies skin immediately and makes foundation last longer
(2) “that gal” the under makeup pink primer for a smoother, brighter base, skin instantly looks brighter even without foundation
(3) the POREfessional for open pores, skin is smoother and pores practically invisible (Benefit’s #1 bestseller worldwide)
(4) some kind-a gorgeous in 3 shades which is the foundation faker
(5) “hello flawless!” in 9 shades, a powdery foundation recommended for oily skins
(6) stay don’t stray eye primer which helps eyeshadows stay put all day and evens out skintone
(7) big beautiful eyes eye contour kit which has everything one needs for the basic eye look
(8) Cha Cha Tint mixed with High Beam for radiance and shine to cheeks (for a more natural look, use more of High Beam and for a more orange-mango tint, use less of High Beam). High Beam gives cheekbones a lifted look and can be mixed with Posietint, Benetint, “that gal” & POREfessional.

(3) dr feelgood or “that gal”.
