I am lucky not to have sensitive skin otherwise I wouldn’t be able to review more than half the products already featured. I can symphatise with those who have sensitive skin as they have to be very cautious about what products they use. I am sure that it must be a pain to pay hundreds of Ringgit for a skincare product only to have one’s skin react badly to the product.
My skin has reacted occasionally to certain products but those occasions have been rare fortunately. Once my skin breaks out, I know that the product isn’t right for me and I have no choice but to stop using it even though it may be such a waste.
Sensitive skin is caused by many factors, it could be hereditary, stress or just an allergy to certain ingredients in the product. Recognising that sensitive skins need extra care, Burt’s Bees has launched a range of 4 products especially for sensitive skins. Why only 4? Well, according to Burt’s Bees, they want to keep things simple for sensitive skins.
This is a basic range consisting of cleanser, a day and night cream and an eye cream. The key ingredient in these products is cotton extract which has calming benefits. Other natural ingredients in the range are rice extract which helps to moisturize dry skin with a tndency to redness or irritation, aloe vera juice with soothing properties, white genepi extract (from Swiss Alps) with anti-inflammatory properties and eyebright, a wild plant extract thought to decrease inflammation.
Product information on the sensitive skin range:-
(1) Facial Cleanser (RM78)
A soap-free cleanser that is clinically proven to moisturize sensitive skin while gently cleansing away dirt, oil and makeup without over drying or causing redness or irritation.
(2) Daily Moisturizing Cream (RM108)
Clinically proven to moisturize sensitive skin without causing redness or irritation. With the new airless pump bottle, it enables consumers to use almost all of the contents and reduce waste.
(3) Eye Cream (RM108)
Clinically proven to moisturize the delicate eye area without causing redness or irrtation. Sensitive eye cream helps reduce the appearance of under-eye puffiness. With the new pinpoint tube, it helps dispense just the right amount of product.
(4) Night Cream (RM108)
A rejuvenating night cream clinically proven to moisturize sensitive skin for 8 hours without causing redness or irritation.
Members of the media were invited to participate in a contest. We were divided into groups of 4 (each group was named after different coloured roses and daisies) and asked to draw on white t-shirts provided. The theme was “nature” and “Burt’s Bees” so everyone drew flowers and bees. Here are some of the very artistic designs:-
