The Bukit Merah Orang Utan Island Foundation (OUIF) is the driving force behind the Bukit Merah Orang Utan Island’s (in Bukit Merah Lake Town Resort, Perak) operations as well as its research centre’s main source of funding. The foundation’s main responsibilities include the setting up and maintenance of the island’s facilities, facilitating sponsorships and donations, organising orang utan infant relocation, displacement support, rehabilitation, and education programmes, in addition to collaborating with universities, government agencies, schools, charitable organisations and non-government organisations.

Burt’s Bees is helping the Orang Utan Island Foundation raise more funds for the facility. There will be an awareness walk at the end of October jointly organized by the Rotaract Club of Port Klang Centennial Personnel where everyone is invited to participate! Those interested may purchase tickets at any Burt’s Bees outlet (except Subang Parade and Sephora) or from the Rotaract Club of Port Klang Centennial Personnel. Each participant is charged RM30 where RM20 will be donated to the OUIF and they will each receive a certificate of participation, a t-shirt for the walk, Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm and Mini Packs from Burt’s Bees. At the walk, there will be 10 lucky draws and prizes include a free night stay in Bukit Merah Resort and Burt’s Bees hampers worth RM100.

At the same time, RM10 Burt’s Bees vouchers will be sold in all the stores (except Subang Parade and Sephora). These vouchers entitle the holder to redeem Burt’s Bees products at RM10 off. For each voucher sold, RM10 will be donated to the OUIF. This promotion only runs in the month of October. They are great as gift vouchers or just purchase it to do your part for charity. In doing so, you might just prevent the orang utans from facing extinction.
