Since I’d finished my CooperVision Biomedics, I went looking for new daily lens because I wanted to compare them with the CooperVisions lens. Since I was in Sg. Wang which has numerous optical outlets and even the Watsons outlet there sells contact lens, I asked around for prices. One of the optician’s had Ciba Vision Dailies Aqua Comfort Plus at RM70 per box which I guess is reasonable for daily lens? I have no idea about the average price of daily lens. On their website, these lens are described as “the world’s first lens with triple-action moisture” which “boosts three moisturizing agents working synergistically to provide comfort throughout the day”.
Not bad on the comfort level as I got to 12 hours of wear without feeling I needed to apply refreshing drops or remove the lens but the problem came when I wanted to remove the lens. They proved quite difficult to remove. On one particularly difficult occasion, it took me more than 10 attempts and 15 minutes to remove one lens. I’ve never had that problem with my Bausch & Lomb monthly lens (they are removed at the first attempt) and it was also fairly easy with the Cooper Vision Biomedics but with these lens, it takes a lot of effort and time to remove much to my frustration.
Then something happened a few days ago. I had a stray eyelash in my eye and I think one of the lens popped out because suddenly my vision went totally blur and I tried to look for the lens but it just wasn’t there. The next day, I put in a new lens and a few minutes later, that lens came out cracked followed by an eyelash. A few days later, the remainder of the cracked lens came out. This has never happened to me before and I’m just wondering whether it could be because these lens are thinner than the other brands I have used before which would might explain why they are so arduous to remove or perhaps there’s some other reason I find it difficult to get a grip on them to remove.
These lens are extremely fragile compared to other brands’ lens. Another time, I felt a stinging sensation in my eye and realized it’d cracked and when I tried to remove it, only a quarter came out. I couldn’t remove the rest of it until 15 minutes later during which time my eye was so irritated. For this reason alone, I can’t go back to these lens.
Oh my so dangerous!
