Clarisonic Mia 2 & Travel Case
Since the beginning of the year, I’d been planning and saving up for the Clarisonic Mia and then along came Clarisonic Mia 2. I couldn’t have been more excited. It was like Christmas came early a few months ago. For someone who has been using hands and the Konjac sponge to cleanse face, I was thrilled to bits at the opportunity to try out Clarisonic Mia 2.
Of course, like most people who were interested in investing in Clarisonic Mia, I’d read as much as I could about how much more effective sonic micro-massage was at cleansing face of impurities. Mia 2 claims to give 6x better cleansing than manual cleansing, reduced appearance of pores, fine lines and wrinkles and improved skin tone.
I read the user guide through and through although Mia 2 is relatively easy to figure out even without the guide. It’s an improved version of Mia as this one has 2 speeds (I’m always on the faster speed) and the device beeps 3x during the one minute process as it’s 20 seconds each on the forehead and nose/chin and 10 seconds each on either cheek. Once the final 10 seconds is up, it doesn’t beep, it’ll just switch off automatically.
Prior to the first use, I charged the Mia 2 overnight but it was fully charged in less than 24 hours. The pLink charger magnetically attaches to the handle and a fully charged Mia 2 gives 24 minutes of use. While charging, the light on the handle will be blinking. The light will turn solid once it has been fully charged.
Mia 2 offers a choice of 2 speeds : low and normal. On low speed, the lower LED light will be on while on normal speed, the upper LED light will be on. I can either apply my face cleanser directly on to my face or on to the brush cleanser. I prefer to massage the cleanser on to my skin first and then use Mia 2 on my forehead first.
I massage the brush head in circular motions for 20 seconds and when I hear the beeping sound, it’s time to move on to my nose/chin area. I believe my brush head is for sensitive skins. It feels so soft and obviously 100x better than if I were using my bare hands. Once you have the Mia or Mia 2, you never want to go back to the conventional methods of cleansing. This device is that good!
Mia 2 comes with a 30ml tube of Refreshing Gel Cleanser for normal/oily skin. I love the scent of this product and it makes my skin ultra-smooth and soft while thoroughly cleansing my skin of make-up. It contains the following natural active ingredients:-
- Willowbark extract—a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory
- Bearberry extract—promotes bright, even skin tone
- Japanese Green Tea—soothes and protects skin
I have used all kinds of cleansers with Mia 2 including cream cleansers but I find that it works best with foam and gel cleansers. I can see and feel the difference in my skin since I started on Mia 2. For one thing, there are a lot less break-outs and my complexion is a lot clearer. Skin feels much cleaner and pores are more refined but then you’d expect to see the difference with a device that oscillates at more than 300 movements per second. It’s like giving myself a facial twice a day! I haven’t even been to one facial ever since I started using Mia 2, don’t see the need to.
Every single skincare product I’ve been using since I started on Mia 2 absorbs much better and seems more effective. Mia 2 is an extremely effective cleansing device for me and I would never leave home without it!
The brush head is interchangeable with other types of Clarisonic brush heads. I’ve just bought the brush head for normal skins to see if there is any difference in performance. The brush head is recommended to be replaced every 3 months as the bristles will become fatigued and less effective over time.
As I have been using Mia 2 to remove make-up, the brush head does become discoloured but this doesn’t affect the performance. It can be cleansed with soap and water. It’s very easy to remove the brush head for a good cleansing once a week.
Clarisonic Mia 2 comes in pink and white and retails at RM672 at Sephora outlets.
