Clarins Extra-Firming Smoother Treatment Is An Hour Of Bliss

I have had facials in the best and worst of salons. Clarins Skin Spas obviously fall into the former category as they smell great as soon as you step into any of them. I have had a few facials so far at their KLCC outlet and it’s the best Clarins Skin Spa as far as I am concerned. I had a facial at their Bangsar Shopping Centre outlet last year and it wasn’t nearly as good as the facials I’ve had at the KLCC outlet. Overall, service at the KLCC outlet is the best.

When the Clarins Extra-Firming Smoother Treatment was offered to me, my appointment was confirmed within 2 hours of the offer being made. Now that’s what I call sincerity and efficiency which is a whole lot more than I can say about another well known brand which offered their facial to me and never confirmed the appointment after a year had passed and to add salt to the wound, offered it to someone else! No apology was tendered either when I brought up the matter to their management and it was all swept under the carpet. Not to mention because I complained about their broken promise, I have been excluded from all events under this company, nice touch especially to someone who’d been their loyal customer since 1996. Yes 1996 so what did that tell me? That it was time to move on to brands which didn’t kick me around and treated me with a bit more respect since I deserved it. But I digress.

Clarins Extra-Firming Smoother Treatment is an improvement to their previous version of the firming treatment – the Lifting Lines Smoother Treatment. Previously, they used the Younger, Longer Balm in the Lifting Lines Smoother Treatment but not any more in the Extra-Firming Smoother Treatment since the Balm has been discontinued in Malaysia and there’s no need for it with the introduction of Clarins Double Serum.

Skin Smoothing Eye Mask & Super Restorative Replenishing Comfort Mask

The therapist doesn’t use fancy schmancy machines to analyse my skin. At Clarins, it’s all about the touch and so she analyses my skin using her hands as I am lying on the facial bed. I told her my skin’s very dehydrated. She confirmed that as well as puffy eyes and rather dull, tired looking skin which gives the impression that I lack sleep but actually I sleep before midnight most nights except nights when I am rushing to get a review up for the next morning. Once my skin has been analysed, the therapist explains the products that will be used during the facial. Double Serum + Clarins anti-stress supplement would be used for the massage. The supplements are salon exclusive products and can be added to enhance the efficacy of other skincare.

Before the facial, I could see that my marionette line on the right side of my face was very obvious and it makes my face look saggy. Well Clarins Extra-Firming Smoother Treatment is exactly what I needed and couldn’t have come at a better time.

What makes this new facial (available since 1st September 2013) better than the previous Lifting Lines Smoother Treatment? The therapist explained that for the Clarins Extra-Firming Smoother Treatment, they’d employ more advanced massage techniques to firm up skin. One of the things I like about Clarins facials (no, it’s not that they don’t extract blackheads) is that they don’t use any machines. It’s all about the touch, as I mentioned earlier. There isn’t anything better than feeling an experienced therapist’s hands on my face for about an hour and a bit and at Clarins, that is exactly what I get as the therapist NEVER leaves the room to chat with her colleagues or fetch anything throughout the entire time I am lying on the bed. She doesn’t leave me to my own devices while the mask is on as she uses that time to give me a mini hand massage.

Warm towels are used during the facial, it all feels very pampering. The therapist also used Shaping Facial Lift on me as my face looked puffy too. As she administered the facial massage, I think I dozed off which is rare for me during a facial as I like to pay attention to what’s going on. For the massage, there’s a lot of cupping of my face and this helps the products absorb better into my skin.

For the mask, the therapist applied the Skin Smoothing Eye Mask which felt soothing around my eyes and as my skin was so in need of hydration as well as firming (hey, this is mature skin we are talking about!), she used the Super Restorative Replenishing Comfort Mask which I hadn’t even heard of until the facial. The Super Restorative Replenishing Comfort Mask is for those above 35. I should seriously look into getting this mask because it felt rich and creamy even more so than the HydraQuench Cream-Mask which is one of my absolute favourite hydration masks because it delivers. For those who are not so in need of hydration or those who have younger skin, the Age Fighting Mask with Peptides is used instead and that’s a salon exclusive product.

After the facial, the therapist handed me a mirror and the results were very good as I noticed the marionette line on the right side of my face was less obvious and there was a radiance to my complexion. My skin looked and felt firmer and plumper too which meant that the massage techniques really helped to make my skin more supple. All this without the use of a single machine. This was a totally hydrating and satisfactory facial, not to mention a blissful 1 hour and then some.

Clarins facials are proof positive that you don’t need machines to see results after a facial. Another reason I like and enjoy Clarins facials is because they aren’t unnecessarily lengthy. Quite apart from few people having the time to lie there inert for a few hours, it can be very tedious to go through 2+ hours of a facial treatment. My therapist’s skills are impressive and I couldn’t have asked for a better therapist. She was extremely helpful as I bombarded her with questions regarding the facial and products used. This is definitely one of the more memorable facials I have had in some time and all for the right reasons!
